Or more accurately, she got a couple of pretty decent gigs in the US and relocated there (it pays better and the weather is better!)...
Anyone who has worked with her will tell you she's pretty good... (Streets ahead of Kate Thornton for example...)

Wasn't Amanda Byron kicked out of the country when she proved to be a terrible presenter on the Big Breakfast? Why are we letting her back on British television? To me, she just comes across as a nasty person who really brings the mood down on something that should be light hearted.

BTW - looks very much like a set with a projector, not green/blue screen for the Hammond bits. (His hair would be very boring to chroma key) I stand corrected if they've bought/rented a decent Ultimatte...
(Though the completely static nature of the links means it might as well be CSO)

First by Paul "That's Magic" Daniels then greatly improved on by Bob Monkhouse
Totally off-topic I know, but the Paul Daniels ones (which went out in the evenings) were far better.

It looks slightly washed out though, as if they are filming it - I would expect the picture to be clearer for CSO, but I think the idea that you know he's a studio looks better with the projection.

They didn't need a studio, just Richard talking over the action would have been good enough!
I can see Harry Hill linking this to Hole In The Wall somehow...
...Which brings me to my next observation - At least they used members of the public rather than 'celebs'!
(Also it looks like the same games for the whole series, which could get boring...At least Takeshis had a mixture of different ones).

You don't need to be an 'insider' to know if a presenter is any good. As a humble viewer I couldn't care less how nice she is in real life.
Except that the two almost always go hand-in-hand. Less-than-nice people seldom make great presenters - as the mask will often slip when things go wrong exposing their true selves. That isn't to say that nice people always make great presenters - but the best are usually the same off-screen as on.
Presenters usually trade in their likeability - and it is surprising how many think they can fake this ...

I'd go for back-lit projector. It was very washed out as well.
Done in a studio in London ( TVC as Richard Vallentine was credited as the studio director?) as recording was done in November at the same time as the last series of Top Gear.

Interesting...
There used to be a show called Wipeout here too on BBC1, but nothing like that: IIRC it was more an elmination game akin to catchphrase, presented by Paul Daniels or Bob Monkhouse-- or I am going even more deranged than usual? :S

Thought so thanks
I'll have to watch out for it on Challenge.

You're not the only one, as from the Wipeout wikipedia page:

Leading Japanese broadcaster TBS has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against ABC, charging that the 2008 summer hit Wipeout is "a blatant copycat" of several of its classic Japanese competition game shows. Among the charges are that ABC bought search terms such as MXC on Google to help drive traffic to the official Wipeout page, and that specific obstacles in Wipeout were knock-offs of challenges in the Japanese game shows.
