Anyone watching Total Wipeout right now?

I can tell it's going to be quite a flop. It's got potential but they're taking things too seriously... apart from some god-awful jokes from Richard Hammond.

The OTT shouting from the contestants at the beginning 'This is for my mother!' etc. etc. is just embarassing and I can't make out if this Amanda is American, Irish, English or what?!

Amanda is Irish.

It feels like we've skipped winter and spring and gone straight to the Summer filler show.

I bet the TV critics in the Sunday papers are shapening their pencils as we speak. Laughing

I can see the show getting a mention on TV Burp if nothing else. There's something about it which reminds me of Takeshi's Castle.

Why can't we just have a lovely little Saturday night quiz show? I vote for Every Second Counts or something similar. Why does it all have to be about boxes, spinners, walls, elimination.

Mind you, it's better than Hole in the Wall.

Is Richard Hammond actually there or just sat in front of a green screen in London?

I'm pretty sure he is just in front of a green screen.

Looks like either a green screen or a big TV screen, yes.

Oh I love it - they've obviously been told to ham it up as much as possible. There's all the clichés in there. "Its been such a journey" and "I want to make my family proud" included.

I think it'd be better with Richard Hammond at the scene and as the only presenter but then it would just be It's A Knockout.

How can they say bouncing on 4 big balls and getting wet and muddy is such a journey? Confused

It's like a badly beefed up It's a Knockout.

Too. Long.

Now, that might seem odd, as I watched it enjoyably for an hour - but for 7 more weeks? Uh, no. 45 minutes tops - I got bored of the first course.

Takeshi's Castle works as they pack so many in, you're never bored. And that's both multiple courses as well as multiple contestants packed in.

It's the same mistake they made with Hole in the Wall. A watchable concept, but stretched too far for each episode to make an enjoyable series. Will I watch it again? Probably, on iPlayer, when I have nothing else to do, and get bored and skip tons of it.
