How did the various channels do?

BBC1, ITV1, etc just included the result at the end of main news bulletins.

BBC News 24 covered it for a short time

Probably, if events hadn't taken place earlier this week, there would have been special News Reports, but it isn't really important enough now.

BBC did do a news report on it at 5.15pm on BBC Two with Huw Edwards just announcing who had won and saying he would be back with more and full coverage of the latest from America at Six on One.
SN
SkyNews
Sky News had LIVE coverage from Central Office

News 24 effectively did do a special programme, of roughly 30-40 minutes length, so slightly shorter than they would have normally.

Obviously the 'event' was shortened anyway because neither of the two candidates took questions afterwards.

I like the new vantage point the BBC have been using at Smith Square lately, nice to have a few leaves etc. in the background as the rest of the buildings look so dull.

So the Tories have voted for a William Hague lookalike then...

Yep, William Hague Mk II, only with less charisma. I think we can safely say Labour will be in power for at least another decade. Sad

Then Blair is a Thatcherite! (18 year term)

I feel that following the IDS victory, PMQs will be much duller than the lively & entertaining days of Blair vs Hague.

I think Iain Duncan-Smith will surprise many people when they begin to hear more of what he has to say. He seems a genuine bloke and his words in Commons the other day sounded heartfelt and genuine. Give him a chance, for Christ's sake.

PMQ's will be a lot lot duller now.
Had the tories voted Ken Clarke in, I think PMQ's would have been even more livelier than the Blair Vs. Hague encounters.
Ken Clarke would also have been far more likely to beat Blair at the next election.
I can see Labour being in power for a lot longer than a decade.Confused

That's why I said Blair would be a Thatcherite - staying in power for 18 years! 'Cos that's how long the Tories were last in power for!
