looks like they killed off ianto and
spoilered for those who haven't seen the end yet
bit of a rush ending, find out how to stop the aliens, do it, piss off the aliens, end of
there was far too much activity going on for it all to just stop when nobody knew what had happened

I'm surprised you can appreciate something Doctor Who related!
It was very good I thought. The production value was excellent.

If they haven't seen the ending yet they're bloomin fools for reading a Torchwood thread!

I haven't watched all of the episodes yet, but it seems far removed from Doctor Who. The sci-fi element wasn't too over the top, it was just right, and there was a good balance of emotional involvement which made it more realistic and engaging as well. That's something you just don't get with Doctor Who - it's naff.

Very small point - but I loved the fake brands "Dessi" and "Aesir" for the TVs and Monitors. (Do they mean something in Welsh?)
One minus point - there were a lot of red-light reflections visible on some shots - particularly the off-tube stuff. Doesn't take a second to switch the red light on a camcorder off (or to put gaffer tape over it)

No - not that I know of, anyway.

I've just watched the last episode and thought that the entire mini-series was very well written and produced.
If they do make another series it would perhaps be too different. Many of the main characters have gone and so has the iconic 'hub' underneath Cardiff.
I would prefer this to be an excellent swan song rather than the basis for the introduction of what would essentially be a completely different set of protagonists, location and background.

The transition to BBC One, and therefore to an extended audence, was bound to bring changes. Extreme ones at that.
The show will come back. After just watching the special features on the DVD [yes it oddly arrived the morning before the final broadcast], Russell T Davies says:
"I wont say there's no more, perhaps there's more left in him. But it seemed the only way to end this story."
Which in my opinion translates as:
"If we get good ratings, I'll find a way of bringing him back to earth after he's seen the new Doctor this New Year"

I was playing safe because you can bet your bottom dollar that some bod hasn't seen it yet and will come whingeing at me that I spoilt the ending
anyway here's my picky points
found it a bit daft that when the children screamed and the aliens bogged off that the army in Wales just stopped trying to take the children when they would have no idea that anything had changed.
also how did the army gain access to all the schools which are locked from the inside and inaccessible without access being granted. you saw a head in one school questioning what they were doing just walking in and taking the children, you can't just walk into a school these days, army or not, you're locked out.
and all those children were just too well behaved to just walk out of class and onto buses, I have enough trouble at work getting 130 plus infants to stand in six lines at the end of play, and these kids, several thousand of them, just herd out of class and onto buses without question
in the first instance where did the aliens find a human prepubescent child to found out that, in some gruesome inhuman way, they make a good narcotic
why did the whole world just bow down to what were in effect junkie alien terrorists and let them take their children because said aliens killed all the people in one building
when we have terrorist acts does the world bow down to them and give them their way because they have blown up a building or several trains
looks like they killed off ianto and
