These two performances as part of TOTP2 arn't much to get excited about in my opinion. Most of them won't be the mainstream stuff the normal TOTP used to show, more Later with Jools in some ways.
Did TOTP2 not have 'new' performances (albeit repeats from the previous week's TOTP) when it originally started? So the format of TOTP2 is staying the same.

They did they also occassionally had some exclusive performances, which is essentially what you will get with the new series of TOTP2.

They used to show repeat performances from that weeks episode, in addition to the number one countdown. Not sure when that stopped though, they were still doing it in 1996. One other thing to note about TOTP2 is that they were using the new TOTP logo (the 1995-98 one) for several months before it was actually launched onto the main show.
I don't mind Steve Wright. Probably because I've got used to him on the Christmas TOTP2, I don't know. "Good evening and a happy yuletide to you all, here's Roy Wood..." Brilliant!
Would have been better I suppose, if they renamed it The Music Archives or something and included performances from other music shows such as Old Grey Whistle Test. Then it would breakfree from the TOTP mould. Something like Sounds of the Archives - with a similar idea to the BBC4 10min Sounds of the 60's/70's shorts.
Sounds of the 70's 80's etc are from the early 90's - IMO they should have continued making that series as it is refreshing to see a band not in the TOTP studio, what with Oxford Roadshow for example, Wogan, The Roxy and countless saturday morning progs with performances in.
The new show is said to be archive performances and 2 new performances...so exactly the opposite of the last year of TOTP. However where will be the new performances be done? Surely not the usual TOTP studio with audience...?
