Slightly off topic, but did anyone see Sounds Of The 70s tonight?

They used a clip of Max Bygraves taking off Glitter!

WTF

By the way Totp is back on BBC 4 tomorrow night & it appears the recent Totp 2 is getting another run at the weekend, it appears.

There was also some careful sound editing of Paradise by the Dashboard Light. The vocals were muted on the word "bitch", maintaining the sound of the band. They also replaced a long "f**k you" with an additional "I can't take it", which due to the camera angle isn't too obviously unless you've seen the uncensored version on youtube. At least they avoided a complete loss of audio or a bleep.

T Rex was edited too near the end surely?

I've been following the series Sounds of the 70s 2 on BBC2 recently. For a while they showed old 1970s BBC2 idents at its start (blue cube spotted 2, stripy cylinder 2, ribbon ====2====). The last couple of weeks it's been normal present day BBC2 idents at its start.

I've also seen one or two editions of TOTP 1977. Those were the days when the opening sequence of TOTP showed photos of all that particular week's top 30 artists, from 30 to 1. That was accompanied by the classic 70s TOTP signature tune which went something like this:

Ga-rou-ra-rou rounk, ga-roonk ga-roonk
Ga-rou-ra-rou rounk, ga-roonk ga-roonk
etc

Basically a modified instrumental of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love".

Nothing modified about it - it was Whole Lotta Love, albeit covered by CCS. Later used by TOTP2. And me.

It was also remixed in 1998 for a pretty nifty new theme and my favourite era of TOTP:

At the same time TOTP2 received this new look but used the original version of Whole Lotta Love instead of the remix, and continued to use it even after the 2003 revamp.

Wasn't it a TOTP Orchestra re-recording of the CCS cover of While Lotta Love, just to confuse things? TOTP2 later used the actual CCS cover (and some regular TOTPs towards the end of the time of that theme, after the musician union's strike, judging by what I've seen on You Tube). Listen to the theme used on BBC4 each week and compare it with the Steve Wright early 00s era TOTP2 - not actually the same arrangement.
