So..... Matt has left. Meanwhile Clarksons deal with Amazon is due to expire this year unless they renew it. Then again there was whispers about The Grand Tour being axed. If Amazon doesn't renew it could it be possible that we could see Clarksons big return to the BBC along with Hammond and May? They would have to sack Reid and Harris of course.

I can’t see it happening.

9.5m certainly like him enough to listen to him in the mornings. Press and viewer opinion isn't always the same thing. As a confident three rather than a messy seven maybe things might have been different, so we'll see what happens next. I suspect the BBC will feel they need someone to carry the show and take the lead rather than adding another unknown to the mix. Indeed although Chris and Rory were the best of the bunch and rightly promoted to the main show with Matt leaving I wouldn't be certain they'd both retain their jobs either.

So I wonder who would be the perfect trio if Harris and Reid left. Any suggestions?

I’ve always thought Steve Coogan would be good - but maybe in my head I’m picturing Alan Partridge presenting.

Come on, it's obvious, the door is now wide open for Ore Oduba to step in

Meanwhile, in Mary Berry, Commissioning Editor (Primetime Factuality), David Wilkes and Director of Better, Anna Rampton are having an emergency meeting about the viability of Ore Oduba after his rise to middling popularity on ITV's "Britian's Favourite Walks".

The way forward would be to offer the Top gear franchise to their Chump & Sons production company. It would stop the BBC getting mired in much of the Daily Mail complaints. Clarkson would not be directly employed by the BBC. Top Gear would be a commercial financial success via Worldwide/Studios. That's more difficult for the Mail to argue against given their owner doesn't pay UK tax.

The other big obstacle at the BBC was Clarkson's nemesis Danny Cohen who 'left' very quickly afterward.

It would take Tony Hall to get all this sorted & he is a Clarkson fan.

Seems obvious now that you mention it. Id love Dermot O'Leary to be apart of it but it would probably clash with the X Factor Auditions maybe

Top Gear was tired with Clarkson, Hammond and May by the end, I wouldn’t want them back on it if they’re only going to do it a few more years anyway. The Grand Tour has its moments but you’re not missing anything if you’ve never watched it.
