Another day, another Mail article, this time accusing the BBC of snobbery and of "picking on" the Stig.

Sorry, but if a contract has an anonymity clause, with a valid (if overtly showbusiness) reason, then it must be honoured and rightly chased up if any attempts are made to break it.

If this is the case then why on earth did a BBC programmes, um BBC news programme invite him on to the sofa to speak.

"we'll taken you to court but could you come on the telly to promote this"

Because the horse has bolted, it is newsworthy, and BBC News has little to do with Wilman, Clarkson et al. It's like Alex Ferguson's ridiculous boycott of BBC Sport because of Panorama's investigation into his son. People see "The BBC" and think it's all one thing. It's just as fragmented as, for example, a city council. Would you blame me, a librarian, for a pothole appearing in your street?

Is that the interview with Perry McCarthy the original stig? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-11083602

You plank. We're talking about Ben Collins. Everyone knows Black Stig was Perry McCarthy, and he ceased to be when Black Stig was "killed off".

Surely the Worldwide revenues from sydication, merchandise etc. must cover the cost of this show by now?

They should bring back the black Stig costume now, though make it look a bit better than the old one did

So, The Stig was then. Who would have thought it? My life is now a little more complete.

If the Stig's book is popular, I hear Harper Collins will release books by the Banker from Deal or No Deal, Wilson The Butler from the Broom Cupboard, The Thing Upstairs from Trap Door, Nanny from Muppet Babies and the actual Peter from Blue Peter.

One thing I don't understand in this whole case is that the book is about The Stig's real life alter ego, but surely this guy knew that writing a book about himself and putting the fact that he was The Stig in the book would cause a big fuss. It's surely also a breech of his contract with Top Gear, which makes it all the more baffeling in the first place that he would put stuff like this in his book.
Although I'm not a big racing fan, I suspect he isn't high profile enough for his own autobiog if he hadn't have been The Stig

The Top Gear blog made it sound like The Stig was on the side of the BBC and Harper Collins was forcing him to publish these details, but surely that isn't the case? Surely the Beeb are furious with the man who is The Stig

Will anyone care, now that we know who it is? Surely the best selling point was when, one day, his book with the words "I WAS THE STIG" written in huge letters across the cover hit Waterstones - now people will see it and think "Yeah, I know". No-one would buy the book to hear his tales because he was The Stig, but to find out who was The Stig, surely?
