Was nice to see Hammond doing the outro for once. I mean I lnow it's The Clarkson Show and everything, but it just made a really refreshing change.

And I also know how anal that sounds!!

The British Leyland bit was great, Especially Jeremey's Rover P1 Laughing

Have to correct you, it was a rover sd1

Balls, I knew there was a "1" there somewhere, the SD1 was notorious for poor build quality wasn't it?

The only thing that was really any good from British Leyland was the logo:

Unfortunately not conistantly used on their cars

It's sort of James Bond-esqe isn't it!

That seems reasonable.

Well from my point of view Clarkson is the established TV presenter, James May is the respected reviewer/journalist, and Hammond is the bit of both / personality / real-worldy person. The dynamic is very much Clarkson + 3 others, although as this current format is his concept (and the fact Top Gear is on TV at all post old-series cancellation) I don't see any issue with that. It's not Blue Peter.

I have no problem with Clarkson being the lead presenter, he should be. But it's not like James is incompetent like Kate Lawler on Rise, sometimes he can't get to introduce his own reports. It's just annoying.

Excellent show as always this evening, particularly enjoyed Clarkson's 'family car' review.

It will be interesting to see this week's ratings, with TG competing against the awarding of the Sports Personality of the Year, Cranford and The Royal Variety Performance.

I think the BBC were really worried that Top Gear would take a massive chunk out of the Sports Personality Of The Year broadcast, but I wonder if it'll really mess up Cranford's ratings or if The Royal Variety Show would be affected more?

An interesting, but rather pointless, scheduling move by the BBC.

It amended my viewing plan to the extent that, tonight, I watched Chris Beardshaw's Gardening Detective programme on ITV3 at 20:00, followed by Top Gear on BBC2 at 21:00.

I'd normally watch Top Gear at 20:00, followed by Chris Beardshaw on ITV3+1 at 21:00.

I agree. The thinking behind it was that it woldn't clash with sports personality which is fair enough - but since that has overrun every year I can remember and with the main award being presented after top gear had started it was rather silly if not well meant scheduling
