I hope this isn't giving C4 any ideas for an end of the year '100 Highest Rated TV Shows of 2006' presented by Jimmy Carr. The 'best moments' is bad enough but that really would be cheap.

I include myself in that as far as Emmerdale is concerned as ive stopped watching it.

Yes, I think you may have mentioned that once before. Rolling Eyes

I think the World Cup was used as an excuse but the move was more to do with Big Brother. Anyway, it was an experiment, and Emmerdale is back in it's 7pm home, where it is hugely popular.

Well when I used to complain about Emmerdale being on too much and people used to have a go at me for saying it was boring etc, people told me (yourself included) "dont watch it then" so now I dont Very Happy

At the end of the day Corrie is my favourite soap, always will be.

Using Emmerdale being up against Big Brother is a poor excuse, if people were fans they would watch it no matter what.

The thing with soaps is people watch out of habit, rather than because they want to. If the channels have the balls to put a real alternative on, the soap figures will slip.

Personally I've not touched Emmerdale since E4 came to Freeview with first-look Hollyoaks at 7pm.

Thats like me Laughing I went of Emmerdale ever since i started watching Hollyoaks back in May, and i love it. It would be interesting to see a high quality BBC drama at 7pm up against Emmerdale and Corrie, or vice verca.

Thats true. The reason I stuck with Emmerdale so long was out of habit but the 6 nights a week schedule together with no enjoying it anymore made me stop watching.

I now usually watch Hollyoaks first look on E4 as well.
