Awww, that is a shame. I loved watching his art programme as a child. Was it called Hartbeat or something similar? It featured Morph, iirc. I used to have a go at some of his artistic creations but I've always been hopeless at art so they never really materialised. His programmes were enjoyable to watch nonetheless.

Yeah he did Hart Beat and Take Hart, as well as Vision On (being born in 1985, I only really remember him from Hart Beat)
I must say, I have been expecting this news for a while because he has been ill a very long time, I hadn't realised until a year or two ago he was still alive. It's quite sad really that we've lost two very talented TV artists in a year, one, of course, tragically, so young.

I hope Blue Peter does a suitable obit on their next programme, given that Tony Hart designed the famous ship logo.

Oh dear. This news has saddened me.
Tony Hart's programmes were the highlight of the children's TV week for me.

This is one of those moments when the news genuinely saddens me. And I think anyone born in the last 60 years would have the same feelings. His programmes were an iconic part of the children's TV schedule.
Such a talent - I've even got some of his old shows on tape (which my nephew absolutely loves) and his creations still amaze me today.
I think his quote when he retired due to poor health in 2001 sums him up for me, "my aged heart is warmed by the lovely letters and emails I receive, especially when they tell me that my work... inspired the writers to become artists".

A real shock: although it was an inevitability (as with anyone) especially after his strokes, it's still an awful shame. He was one of those 'iconic' TV presenters who'll never be forgotten. Such a shame to see him go.
