Other than Pop Idol (and Late Night with Conan O'Brien on CNBC) the programmes being offered tonight are terrible. Though I am glad Design Wars went off, it's not saturday night material, neither is The Best of TV's Naughtiest Blunders, that's more of a Wednesday at 11.00pm sort of programme. Though I would have rather seen somethine like TV Nightmares, as that has more of a Prime Time feel. Plus the clips on TBOTVNB wern't that funny, I don't think that anyone would wet themselves over the Countdown/ Fart clip. Plus the worse thing is, they've all been on before!
ITV1 is always my choice of tv station when im in on a Saturday night - I much prefer Pop Idol and Celeb's Under Pressure (although Cilla's version of this kind of show was better) to whatever rubbish the BBC are showing.
I didnt watch design wars as it didnt appeal to me and I wasnt at home the 2 weeks it was shown anyway, I always tape Pop Idol if I cant watch it live as its so good. I do think Saturday night is a tough night for tv channels as they dont have soaps to rely on.
On a light note, I was on 'Celebrities Under Pressure' - yay!
In what capacity?
Told to sit in the audience and clap jubilantly. I'm on again next week. My dad does computer work at Granada for something or other so we get tickets.
Celebs Under Pressure makes for good early evening Saturday TV. It really is the same format as "The Moment of Truth" apart from Celebs doing the challenges rather than the members of the family.
I always thought it rather mean when say the Dad of the family didn't win the challenge which could kind of turn the kids against their parents for years. Just think of that psychological damage. At least it's the celebs now that have to live with it when they don't win.
Who'd have thought that Fiona Phillips would have been able to learn all those 40 judo moves. She did very well.
"Look at all these prizes you could win... oh, no, your Dad's mucked up, so you can't have *any* of them..." You could see the hopes and dreams of those poor kids, as well as any respect for their parents, being crushed on the screen just by looking at their anguished expressions.
Just horrible. Celebs Under Pressure isn't really much better. Fancy doing that to a kid, it's just nasty.
The thing i like about celebs under preasure is the fact that the families are pinning there hopes on the celebrities, i would hate to be in their position, trying to win something for someone else. Though I bet most just say sorry and go back to their top salaries!

Yes, didn't Cilla herself intervene because she couldn't see the kids go away with nothing. I believe they got some kind of consolation prize in the end.

When the families lose, the parents get nothing but can our warm-hearted Cilla bear to see the kiddies going home empty-handed? Hell no! They get small but thoughtfully chosen consolation prizes. This was Cilla's influence on the show - she insisted that the format be changed so that losing families received these, for in the tape of the original Japanese show that Cilla saw, she was upset by "kiddies crying because the bikes they thought they'd won were being taken away".
