I think it's the latter - Flash has been updated recently, so much so that Youtube won't work on the library computers.

I've often wondered what sort of people watch stuff like that for their own pleasure and entertainment. I know i wouldn't feel comfortable alone in your company. I find it horrific to even think about watching an execution. I would get no pleasure or fascination from it at all only nightmares.

I gained no pleasure nor entertainment from watching them. The families involved would probably be mentally scarred if they saw the videos. It certainly made an impression on me - the disjointed nature of news reporting can never really express the true. raw emotion you take from watching a video like that.

Here is a comment on one of the videos.

It's funny, when I first started watching videos here, beheadings, would make my skin crawl. Now, after a couple of months, no big deal, just another day at DR! Laughing

bringing execution vidoes into the conservastion is rather disrespectfull to their families, more so than Tommy Cooper. Dieing live on national television is a lot different to being filmed being murdered

I do think this thread needs to close soon before it gets too morbid

Actually deaths in videos on the internet would therefore include this, it's a legitimate extension of the topic as people have mentioned their discomfort with the video.

No-one watches such things for pleasure or entertainment.... out of curiosity and interest, yes.

Like it or not the deaths of Tommy Cooper or Senna or Bud Dwyer, sad as they are, did happen on live TV and are a matter of historical record. People will be interested for all sorts of reasons - medical (what a fatal heart attack looks like), sporting or science (the technical aspects of a crash) or televisual (how it was handled on TV). Some footage that contains people dying is of great importance in terms of future safety - footage of the Bradford fire and Hillborough for example.

Butin all those cases, no-one makes light of the footage

Something like an execution (or a suicide like Dwyers) - a deliberate act is a bit different, I've got quite a tolerance to graphic images but even I wouldn't like to see one. However again it is a piece of footage that is a historically important, not only in the context of the ongoing world events but also as a propaganda piece. If someone wants to see it then fine by me.

As a society we are very protected from graphic images of the dead or dying, it's one of the last taboos. Other parts of the world have a different attitude. Many people have witnessed many deaths and terrible violence by the time they reach adulthood and it's less of a taboo.
