I've often wondered what sort of people watch stuff like that for their own pleasure and entertainment. I know i wouldn't feel comfortable alone in your company. I find it horrific to even think about watching an execution. I would get no pleasure or fascination from it at all only nightmares.
No-one watches such things for pleasure or entertainment.... out of curiosity and interest, yes.
Like it or not the deaths of Tommy Cooper or Senna or Bud Dwyer, sad as they are, did happen on live TV and are a matter of historical record. People will be interested for all sorts of reasons - medical (what a fatal heart attack looks like), sporting or science (the technical aspects of a crash) or televisual (how it was handled on TV). Some footage that contains people dying is of great importance in terms of future safety - footage of the Bradford fire and Hillborough for example.
Butin all those cases, no-one makes light of the footage
Something like an execution (or a suicide like Dwyers) - a deliberate act is a bit different, I've got quite a tolerance to graphic images but even I wouldn't like to see one. However again it is a piece of footage that is a historically important, not only in the context of the ongoing world events but also as a propaganda piece. If someone wants to see it then fine by me.
As a society we are very protected from graphic images of the dead or dying, it's one of the last taboos. Other parts of the world have a different attitude. Many people have witnessed many deaths and terrible violence by the time they reach adulthood and it's less of a taboo.
