To be honest, Ken Dodd is barely in the spotlight anymore. I appreciated until I went to see him live and I started to grow old of his material.

It's a shame that he isn't anymore, but I think he's quite content with stand-up-- and he still sells out-- good on him Cool I hope I'm that energetic and sharp when I'm 82. I think Peter Kay sums him up well: "Best front-of-cloth comedian there is, go see his Laughter tour while you still can". I can't think of many opera-singing comedians out there, who have also appeared in films and had multi-million selling records.

Doddy reputedly knows more jokes than any other comedian, which wouldn't surprise me. He's very under-rated in my opinion-- then again he must've been doing something right in his 50+ years of touring. Time ITV booked him for a third Audience With... , before it's too late.

Hasn't he already done one - I remember seeing it a few years back?

About time too.

I'll have to dig out my old Tommy Cooper DVD's he was superb Smile

Shame I don't have GOLD though, would like to have seen that programme.

It was great - although there was one routine set on a ship-at-sea, where they'd built the set on a gimbal, meaning it rocked side to side. Hilarious, but made me feel queasy, so I had to stop looking.

And they had that bus-load of shrieking audience members who must have got around a lot on the 70s and 80s. I recognised one cackling biddy from the audience of the Good Life...

Ah I think that may be on one of the DVD's, sound familiar at least, I must dig these out over the weekend Smile

Er.... why?

Not that I actually have an opinion on the original video - but isn't it just a little bit f*cking disturbing, you having deliberately saved a video of a man dying to your hard drive?

I agree, why would you save that? It should have never been on there in the first place & to save it is rather morbid IMO Shocked

It's not as shocking as people are making it out to be. I've seen far worse on the internet.

I suppose you're one of these people who excitedly looked up the ken bigly footage

How'd you know!

Na, I just don't get the big deal.

What are you a psychopath?

Just not as sensitive as others maybe! Get over it.

Do you mean over Tommy Cooper or Ken Bigley? Out of the trio of the deaths (the three kidnaps), Ken Bigley's was, by far, the least gory. Eugene Armstrong's is much worse.

If you can't handle Tommy Cooper's death, then I definitely wouldn't recommend you watch the trio.

I've often wondered what sort of people watch stuff like that for their own pleasure and entertainment. I know i wouldn't feel comfortable alone in your company. I find it horrific to even think about watching an execution. I would get no pleasure or fascination from it at all only nightmares.

The likes of the Tommy Cooper thing I could sit through. For me, at least, I find it fascinating as opposed to entertaining - in this case, it was to see the signs of a real attack and to see how a TV gallery would cope in a siutation.

As for executions and all that s**t, I stay the hell away. The only clip I've been of that nature was the death of Budd Dwyer when he commited suicide during a televised conference - something I strongly hesitate to watch again. A friend of mine was trying to persuade me to watch a video called 3 Guys 1 Hammer - there's more chance of me having a heart attack on stage at Her Majesty's Theatre than seeing that. Which means don't Google it.

bringing execution vidoes into the conservastion is rather disrespectfull to their families, more so than Tommy Cooper. Dieing live on national television is a lot different to being filmed being murdered

I do think this thread needs to close soon before it gets too morbid
