A nicer lasting image of a terrific entertainer after this thread.

And on that, surely, we can all agree!

Absolutely.

And those who don't can rent some snuff movies.

Anyway, it's certainly led me to watch some classic TC stuff on YouTube.. namely his interview with Parky, just brilliant, and you can tell he didn't want the interview to be about him but about his act.

A born professional entertainer. Sadly we don't see many of those these days. Only seems to be Brucie, Barry Humphries and Ken Dodd left.

To be honest, Ken Dodd is barely in the spotlight anymore. I appreciated until I went to see him live and I started to grow old of his material.

It was great - although there was one routine set on a ship-at-sea, where they'd built the set on a gimbal, meaning it rocked side to side. Hilarious, but made me feel queasy, so I had to stop looking.

And they had that bus-load of shrieking audience members who must have got around a lot on the 70s and 80s. I recognised one cackling biddy from the audience of the Good Life...

That sketch had me in absolute hysterics too! But yeah it also made me feel slightly ill. I wonder if it would have had much effect on people watching the smaller TVs of the day.

Well luckily I captured it the other day. Should have stayed IMO.

It's a shame that he isn't anymore, but I think he's quite content with stand-up-- and he still sells out-- good on him Cool I hope I'm that energetic and sharp when I'm 82. I think Peter Kay sums him up well: "Best front-of-cloth comedian there is, go see his Laughter tour while you still can". I can't think of many opera-singing comedians out there, who have also appeared in films and had multi-million selling records.

Doddy reputedly knows more jokes than any other comedian, which wouldn't surprise me. He's very under-rated in my opinion-- then again he must've been doing something right in his 50+ years of touring. Time ITV booked him for a third Audience With... , before it's too late.

Ken Dodd has the same effect on me as clowns, dwarfs and the child catcher * shudders* . I never watch him. I have some irrational fear of him. Maybe I ought to try regression therapy.

Er.... why?

Not that I actually have an opinion on the original video - but isn't it just a little bit f*cking disturbing, you having deliberately saved a video of a man dying to your hard drive?
