Why do you have to turn every thread into 'Fantasy Schedules' ?

I find that Today with Des and Mel was pretty much superseded by The Paul O'Grady Show.

We saw this when Des and Mel moved to the 5pm slot and everyone slagged it off. The show we used to like suddenly seemed very safe and predictable. It never seemed to pick up again once it moved back to daytime. It's had a good run anyway

Celebrity Fit Club has also had a good run, with about 4 series. I find it strange that people on here seemingly dislike celebrity reality shows and never mentioned the show when it was on air are now complaining about it being axed!

I never watched Celebrity Fit Club because I don't watch most of the reality shows as I don't like the genre (only exception being The Apprentice), but the programme does snugly fit into Five's current reality programmes profile, therefore it could be a big hit for them, even if it did receive the same viewing figures as the last series.

I have only watched a few epiosdes of Paul O'Grady and I find it a tad childish in the way it is presented (in other words either put Stephen Muhern or Holly in Paul's seat and then you have the perfect MOM/Saturday Showdown replacement!). I find Today with Des and Mel more entertaining with a slighlt better clibre of guests, hence reason I feel that it should continue.

On another point of view

I do fantasy schedules in a lot of threads (i.e. the ones I find more appealing to the programmes I watch/take an interest in) because it can open up a more valuable discussion as to what could actually happen - in this case if Shaps took the braver move and completely redesign Daytime ITV and axe This Morning what would replace it what would the schedule look like - it brings other people's point of view in as no two people's viewpoint is exactly the same but schedule have to include most people's taste and I try to show my arguments throuigh the fantasy schedule. It may present me in a bad light with some whom don't like the idea but what ideas do these people have to show their arguments whilst trying to mainly stay on the fence and please most people most of the time. This is something that most people don't consider and something that ITV don't give a dman about!

I do try to make it generic as possible without actually trying to mention any programme names because of various likes and dislikes by so many people. If anything I use it as a discussion tool - plain and simple.

How about turning ITV Day on it's head. Basically, put the lifestyle programinng during the morning like 60 second makeover, Loosewomen etc and put Fern and Phil in a late afternoon slot, yes I know Richard and Judy did this when going from ITV to CH4 but this might give CH4 a little run for its money and even though its just changing the schedule around, it might actually get things fresh again.

Shaps certainly needs to cut Emmerdale down to 3 nights a week and bring back some classic programming in the 7.00pm slot on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays! They could do so much with this timeslot and yet they waste it by a visit to Yorkshire evry night of the week bar Saturday!

Here Here. I had to stop watching Emmerdale earlier this year because it was on too often and it got so boring. Cant believe they are still showing it 6 nights a week.

I've got hold of one of my Radio Times from my tv treasure trove from the end of September 1998 and here's what ITV had to offer between the hours of 7-10pm on weekdays

Monday
7.00 Family Fortunes / 7.30 Corrie
8.00 World in Action / 8.30 Fat (doc about concerns of body fat)
9.00 Liverpool One (Police Drama)

Tuesday
7.00 Emmerdale / 7.30 Regional Variation
8.00 The Bill / 9.00 Supply and Demand (Drama)

Wednesday
7.00 Emmerdale / 7.30 The Big Match: Champion's League Live
9.45 Coronation Street

Thursday
7.00 Emmerdale / 7.30 What Will They Think of Next (Factual)
8.00 Michael Barrymore's Strike It Rich
8.30 The Estate Agents (Real Life Reality)
9.00 In-laws from Hell (Real Life Reality)

Friday
7.00 Bruce's Price Is Right / 7.30 Corrie
8.00 Noah's Ark (Drama)
9.00 Des O' Connor Tonight

Whilst you can see where the rot was about to sit in with In Laws from Hell which with that type of programming was about to become the norm for ITV. There was still plenty of variety within the schedule. Oh Happy days!
