Having watched the second leg of the momentus match of TNS vs Liverpool on ITV2 tonight, I wondered why the highlights were on BBC1 Wales tonight?

I'm sure the highlights of the first leg were shown on ITV1 rather the BBC!

As Science may say, "What's that all abowt?"

AFAIK the Qualifiers for the UEFA Champions League aren't usually shown and aren't part of the usual Broadcast rights, this being between ITV and BSkyB. But as Liverpool are in the Qualifiers ITV decided to buy the Live rights for ITV2 and BBC Wales probably felt that buying the highlights would benefit the Welsh fans, seeing their team in the first round of qualifying.

It's just that the both legs between TNS and Liverpool have been shown LIVE on ITV2 with the highlights of the first leg on ITV1, whereas last night's highlights for the second leg were on BBC1. It just seemed a bit odd.

As implied above, the rights belong to the home side (as per UEFA Cup games). Hence TNS are quite able to sell the live rights to ITV2, whilst selling the highlights to the BBC.
