Quick question which has bugged me for a number of years - does anyone remember the name of the Saturday morning show which was set in outer space and lasted only one summer? It was around in the early nineties and had one female presenter and, I believe, possibly another male character presenter. It was very, very weird and did nothing in the ratings.

I think it been helped greatly by the fact the crew seem to be primarily in their late 20s, precisely the people who grew up with Going Live! which was, is, and probably always will be the greatest programme to have graced the TV at 9am.

Apart from Swap Shop, obviously.

Did anyone else think it was strange when they said it was time to restart the show?

I thought they were going to start from the beginning!

I quite liked that bit, i think its supposed to welcome viewers who have just tuned in to a brand new show halfway through.

That would be Paralell 9 which actually lasted 3 series, but the first is the one most people like you remember because it was so damned weird.

It was a fictional show created by the same people who created TVS's legendary No. 73 and the concept was similar to that and Ghost Train i.e guets dropping in on the cast and assisting them through that weeks storyline.

P9 was something else altogether though the concept was thus- elderly alien who is actually a young man because time runs backwards on his planet summons the human girl Calendula to Zarb (by infiltrating her dreams) contraveing the law there in the process he is caught.

At the trial he and Calendula are banished for all eternity to the penal colony Parallel 9, Mercator (the alien) is allowed to live for only 2 hours a week, the rest of the time he is in suspended animation.

Guest would be summoned each week to try and assit their escape.

Frankly the most bizarre kids tv show ever but actually quite good once you got your head round the concept, but ultimately it was just too strange to succeed and the second series so a reversion to standard summer format.

Something like Planet 9 I think!

Only saw the last few minutes so can't comment on the content - but the DOG seemed massive!

I'm repeating myself and everyone else here - but being hidden out on BBC2 isn't the place for this!

P.S. Is Sportround live, and if so do they use the second news set (used on weekdays by Newsnight/Newsround), or do they use the main news set - and hence possibly the reason the BBC1 lunchtime bulletins are done from the News 24 set?

From what I saw, it looks like it is coming from MTVs studio in Leicester Square. Is it?

I'm watching this programme now, and I'm enjoying it. I agree with phil, it is very polished for a first show.
Part of me was expecting to miss an audience, yet the crew seem to make up for it, and they have made a great use of the space and set up that they have at Leicester Square, and quite a nice little set.

The features are quite good and I'm sure that they'll be totally different in a few weeks time.

It's going down a whole new route to Dick & Dom, though it is fairly similar to TOTP Reloaded.

The programme does remind me of Live & Kicking (especially with the big song titles), with the sort of humour of Ant & Dec in Sam & Mark, infact it reminds me of the very early days of SM:tv when Ant, Dec & Cat were less scripted and had no audience.

I am very impressed by The Secret Show as a programme, it seems like a great commission, especially for a new show.

The games are very well thought up, especially to create such ways to get the audience involved simply by having a birthday on the given day.

I'm not sure on the amount of music videos that they show, I think I'd prefer an American Import Comedy.

I'm not sure about the flat set up, it's ok, but a bit strange.

I like the graphics, set and look of the programme, but as brekkie mentioned the dog was a bit too big, and on the CBBC Channel, it constantly rotated to reveal the full CBBC Channel logo rather than the usual dog. The astons on the programme seem to put the logo into a 16:9 only zone too.

The BIG video titles are actually a product of Going Live, where they litterly filled the screen, they were merely imported into L+K. Cool Oh and Music videos have always been integral to Saturday Morning TV, and I like the fact they are presented as a chart the spirit of the Chart Show and even Saturday Superstore Top 10 lives on.

I have one wish though, if they can't persuade the big music groups to come on the show then they should do what TVS did with No. 73 when faced with the same problem against the lure of Superstore, invite new and upcoming bands on.

Doing that would not only improve the shows "cool" credentials but actually make it a genuine place for new talent to find an audience.

I noticed the DOG was smaller this week and less visible, on the CBBC channel there was no DOG at all, not even a CBBC one.

I thought it was another great show this week. Question Mark was good, i liked it when Caroline slapped Sam halfway through it. They had problem with the phone line on birthday bingo which they ended up shouting down the phone until they were told no one was there, as they resolved this they went to a manu trail which Sam, Caroline and Mark walked right pass the close up of one of the monitors they use for the menu.

I also noticed that the songs that were on the TMi playlist were the same except in a different order from last week.

I hope this show is doing well for a second series.
