How odd. They'd been pushing Real Time quite a lot in the last couple of years as well.
Ultimately, I think Discovery Real Time is just not that strong a brand. The name is pretty meaningless, and it does seem a bit of a redundant repeats channel (it makes you realise just how good the UKTV channels are, to be honest).
Quite fitting that the last programme would be The Joy of Painting, one of the programmes that defined the channel in its early years (when it was known as TLC).

With a series link too. I just turned over to Discovery Real Time for the first time ever. I had no idea I even received this channel. I will miss scrolling past it on the EPG.
So Discovery have one less channel from tomorrow - TLC is replacing RealTime and Travel and Living is just closing?
Quite fitting that TLC replaces RealTime as that was the replacement for Discovery Home and Leisure which replaced the original TLC.
Having seen a few adverts for TLC, it does look a lot worse than I thought it would be. There was an exec from Discovery talking about TLC on Radio 4 the other day. Their line is that there is a lack of TV for women... really?
Travel and Living was essentially hidden; never cross promoted and seemed to only feature programmes aired on other channels (notably Real Time). I can't actually find any listings for TLC - will they still have Homes Under the Hammer?
This isn't a relaunch. It's a new channel, which just happens to have the name of the old TLC channel. Discovery networks are not calling this a relunch. TLC is a new women targeted channel.
Oh on UPC it's getting 113 on the EPG, meaning e4+1 is moving....

Real Time has already dropped off the Sky EPG, and Discovery Home & Health has launched its new look.
Also, the two +1 channels have been removed - even though they've not come to the end of programmes.
