Slightly off topic, but me & my bro saw Claire Short driving past the old Central Broad Street entrance just before Xmas!

That's nothing, last weekend I was outside that Broad Street entrance with the managing director of TVS! Then we went to a nearby pub.

Him? It was a her, actually. And the first thing I did was tell her off for airing Number 73 instead of the first eight 1982 editions of Tiswas.

Not that it was her fault though, she wasn't running the company back then, but it made my friends laugh Smile

Yeah, but some Tiswas on the box is better than nowt. The only 16:9 Saturday morning kids' show they've done is Ministry Of Mayhem, which was as enjoyable as a one-night-stand with Anne Widdecombe.

But still disrespectful to the original material in that not all of the shot picture will be seen. As BBC4's 1997 week proved, even the most recent 4:3 material loses a lot of quality when resized for 16:9, and this will be amplified in the Tiswas show because the footage was either home-taped or shot on defunct broadcast formats.

Broadcasters don't routinely recolour black and white material - imagine the hoo-ha if they did! So why shouldn't clip shows be made in the same aspect ratio as the original material?

I know. I've worked in television and video, I really don't like the crop-and-chop method, I prefer to place 4:3 into a 16:9 area, just pad the sides with something, anything.

Tiswas Reunited is more than just a clip show. There's an audience of hundreds, lots of custard pies and The Cage. There'll be more original content than clips.
