Yes - server technology is usually used to playout the +1 versions of channels. The server records the output of the origination channel and plays it out one hour later - there's no additional mixer or (usually) any facility to change adverts, trails or whatever. The only usual difference is the addition of a "+1" DOG. This of course means that any breakdown can be seen in all its glory one hour later.
One reason why +1 channels are provided is that for ratings purposes, it's counted as a repeat - so the viewers for the main showing can be
added
to the showing on the +1 channel. Cunning ...
Oh and when the server fails - the +1 channel falls off air and remains so for 1 hour after the fault is fixed. Quality ...
I can understand the thing of adding a +1 dog onto the screen which they all seem to do (discovery's thing thats on from the left a different colour for each station).
Most kids channels do it so that the +1 is just added over the top of the logo (bar trouble that have to stick a TROUBLE RELOADED(why is this a half hour delay rather than 1 hour?) thing all the way over their TROUBLE.co.uk dog. Cartoon Network dont bother with one.
Disney however must record the channel without any dogs and then add the +1 one after. Thing back if u can; and were able to to the old disney channel +1; it was the usual disney channel dog with a '+1' cut out of the big circle; there's no way they could have done this by just adding something; so it was a totally new dog.
I am sad, but in Iceland, which I am not conscious of screen end to one this timeshifted concept of the guidance, which became I to their debture, so that an explanation my ears reached its, if from to many difficulty which can be caused is not? Reffering it to the device of the electrical equipment, which can cause a digital admission such for a transmission, in the comparison with a videotaken up, which was not sold there in such high respect the innovation of the improved devices? These are expensive for a family of the pig farmers like and my Avid brother in high of degrees.
I'm pretty sure that Cartoon Network+1 was the first, there right from the start of Sky Digital.
Discovery wasn't that far behind though
I am sorry to sound like a clever dick, but I am certain that Discovery was the first. Cartoon Network didn't appear on Sky Digital until December 1998, the first digital service to have Cartoon Network was On Digital, and they had it from November 15th 1998 until the morning of May 1st 2002. But in December 1998, Cartoon Network +1 arrived on Sky Digital which had launched two months earlier, with all the new Discovery Channels.
