The reason why they don't show QVC Germany anymore when demonstrating a TV is because many moons ago, they received it on Analogue Satellite, which doesn't exist anymore. Anyhow it wouldn't have been available in widescreen on analogue satellite nowadays anyway - so they wouldn't be able to demonstrate a 16:9 TV properly.
QVC always used to show their German channel when they were demonstrating a telly, but nowadays seem happy enough to show a random Freeview channel. Which can be amusing when they pick BBC Four when Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe is on air

I'm sure they could get a feed if they wanted one. I doubt that's the reason, the idea them showing their German equivalent seems quite odd nowadays to be honest. I'm sure they feel it's better to give the viewers something they're familiar with.
They probably didn't think they'd get away with it the olden days, but Flipside TV certainly proved you can.

There was also that time when Alan Johnston was kidnapped and the BBC, AlJazeera, Sky News and CNN contributed reports to a programme on his capture. I think the whole programme was actually only shown in full on Al and the BBC.

I think the ultimate Comic Relief money raiser would be Sky News and BBC News channel presenters swapping channels for a day, so you'd get the likes of Kay Burley, Jeremy Thompson, Anna Botting etc on the News channel and Jon Sopel, Matthew Amroliwala, Jane Hill etc on Sky News... but I don't think it would ever happen, although i'd pay money to see it!
Would be interesting to see the likes of Emily Maitlis, Simon McCoy and Juliet Foster back on Sky News and the likes of Anna Jones and Dermot Murnaghan back on the BBC!

Flipside would have used the "review" provision of Fair Dealing whereas QVC wanting something to show off a telly probably wouldn't be able to.

Who remembers when Jade Goody got voted out of Big Brother (for the second time)? BBC News covered this for some reason. Their live camera position was in a street in Borehamwood and they could just see the top of the stairs going in to The Big Brother house. They showed Jade Goody leaving a few seconds before Channel 4 did.

But they do do it, so they must be allowed.

I imagine it is not so much "allowed", more a case of no channel or rights holders caring enough about QVC showing a few minutes of their content on a TV screen without sound to do anything about it. They also show DVDs and Blu-rays too.

It worked the other way round as well. When we had analogue satellite, one morning I was flicking through the channels, and saw QVC Germany, and they were demonstrating a TV, and tuned into QVC UK to show you it working.

Here is another one that I am sure everyone on TV Forum probably saw at the time of broadcast. The first video shows Paul Price of former shopping channel Snatch It visiting Caroline Lyndsay at Gems TV. He encounters Theo van Dort along the journey.

This second video is what viewers on Gems TV saw.

NOTE : If you press play on the second video when the first one gets to about 1:08 then they will play in sync.
