Well all soaps have there bad times dont they? Im sure there was a time when Coronation St sunk to a very low point - and it recovered.

The difference is that Corrie's bad patch didn't last four years.

Put The Telly On
It pains me to say it but EastEnders has lost its continuity and plots so badly there is only one option and I'm afraid that is to axe it. IMO.

I used to be an avid fan of it, having watched since 1992 until about 2003 when Louise Berridge took over and single handidly destroyed it with her naff team of script monkeys. I continued watching - even when Louise left as I thought it would improve, it hasn't - I tried my damned hardest to keep loyal to it but since they killed off Pauline Fowler and are pretty much destroying the rest of the soap's history and stalwarts with naff scripting and piss poor acting .... I no longer watch.

As I've said time and time again, it is a great shame its turned into this. Why 10m people continue to watch I really don't know...they cannot seriously be long standing fans of the show, thats all I can think of.

The good old cockney knees up-gangster fest- mitchell brothers-EastEnders is dead . FACT. It is now a completely different type of programme.

And ITV eventually acknowledged that Corrie was going through a bad patch... Another fact ( and one that partly destroyed Brookside ) is the ever moving omnibus. When Julia Smith created EastEnders she said that she wanted an omnibus at the same time every week so people knew when to catch up.

As much as I like Barbara Windsor, I feel it's time for someone new to be running the Queen Vic. She could still remain in the show. But new solid blood at the heart of the pub could help...( That's metaphorical blood of course )

I've been thinking about a new family to run the Vic, and i didnt want to go with the typical, so ive gone with something different.....

Craig Hamilton and Lee Tanner
The residents of Walford have seen a lot in their time which have broadened their minds. With the arrival of Craig and Lee - a gay couple who have moved to Walford from Norwich they are set to get tongues wagging.

Craig is up front, loud and will not take any abuse from no one. He sets out on embarrassing those who are small minded.

Lee is laid back and tries to just live his life. His family own a country pub on the outskirts of Norwich.

Two weeks after their arrival, the rest of the Tanners arrive…

Miranda : She has never really come to terms with her son’s sexuality and hopes one day that he will get with a woman. Miranda has been married Steve for 9 years and have had their ups and downs along the way.

Steve : Set up his own business from home and is successful at what he does. Steve has a daughter from a previous marriage. That ended many years back, she died of cancer a few years later.

Rachael : Just turned 18 years old and is full of live. This blonde is your typical happy go lucky type of girl, she hopes to find a new boyfriend in Walford - but knowing her luck she will end up with a baddie

Week 1 : Craig and Lee turn up to the Vic as the new owners. Peggy gives them some friendly advice on to keep making the Vic a success. Shirley and Craig instantly clash over a variety of topics.

Week 2 : A fight breaks out when a group of rowdy lads start shouting abuse at Craig and Lee. Craig is arrested for assault, in turn gaining a few new friends from the residents who had misconceptions about gay people.

Week 3 : Lee’s family come to Walford and reveal they have sold up and want to move in the Vic. Lee has a hard time persuading Craig to let them, but he finally gives in. Rachael gives Garry the wrong impression.

Week 4 : Rachael plays hard to get with Dean. Lee is not happy being ordered round all the time by Craig and decides to get drunk. Miranda starts to lay down the law and for no apparent reason sacks Tracy.

Week 5 : Miranda reinstates Tracy after the regulars boycotted the Vic. Lee has to be carried home by Dean and Rachael after having one too many. Lee makes a pass at Dean, but Rachael catches them

Northerners watch southern soaps and southerners watch northern soaps? WRONG! I am a southerner and I like EastEnders. But I agree that is is going very steeply downhill and if it dont improve soon it has to be axed. The storylines are rubbish, it seems to me that if the story writers cant think of anything they just get someone pregnant! Which reminds me, why does David Lowe on his website claim to have made a remake of the eastenders theme tune?

Because he did? For a Ricky and Bianca special a few years back I believe.

There are a few variations about - they had a pretty good one for EE Revealed a couple of years back.

They're just not bold enough to do it on the main programme though after the backlash of 1993. The show is still stuck in the 80's remember!

Yeah they could change the tune slightly, but look at what they did with Hollyoaks which in my opinion took away any edge of drama the previous tune had given it.

The new hollyoaks tune just points out what the show is aiming for imo-Teenagers

Maybe if you bothered to watch it though, you'd see many of the storylines are far superior to EastEnders'. I agree about the theme tune but it does not represent the content of the show. EastEnders just seems to be full of psychotic females these days. It's fun to have one, but anymore than that and you're going overboard.

I'd have to agree with that CashinDavid. Although i like EastEnders, Hollyoaks by far was the best soap of 2006, and this year has been brill so far too.

If i was to send of Ideas to the top dogs of EE do you think they would reply, or listen?
