Time EastEnders was scrapped

Prime Minister
I know there's already a thread regarding EastEnders, but I just wanted to make my point clear: IT'S TIME EASTENDERS WAS SCRAPPED.

The writing's rubbish. The acting's atrocious. And the continuity is absymul (how long before Ian turns up again in The Vic after being barred for life?).

I know I'm going to get shot down for creating this thread, but I wanted to make my point crystal clear. The show is rubbish, and it's time the BBC used the license fee wisely and created a new soap.

I am not a fan of Eastenders, however why scrap it. Millions love it and enjoy it. Why spoil it for them?

Well all soaps have there bad times dont they? Im sure there was a time when Coronation St sunk to a very low point - and it recovered.

Maybe its time to take it off air for a while, then bring it back for a big launch. EE mark 2

BBC1 Individuals 4+ (Including Timeshift) - w/e 11/03/2007
Programme Millions
1 EASTENDERS (MON 1959) 10.12
2 EASTENDERS (TUE 1932) 9.14
3 EASTENDERS (FRI 2000) 8.85
4 EASTENDERS (THU 2001) 7.38
5 MATCH OF THE DAY LIVE (SAT 1834) 7.19
6 CASUALTY (SAT 2051) 7.00
7 WATCHDOG (TUE 1901) 6.07
8 MATCH OF THE DAY LIVE (SAT 1721) 6.05
9 COMIC RELIEF DOES FAME ACADEMY (SAT 1940) 5.94
10 HOLBY CITY (TUE 2001) 5.63

Now give me one good reason why the beeb would wanna scrap its highest rated program?

10 million people watch it every week plus the 2 million on Sunday.

EDIT: plus the 0.5 million people on BBC3 each night.

Speaking for a tiny minority* who would rather run a electric drill though their eye socket than ever watch any Soap Opera. It would be nice to have a world free of them (and people talking about them in the office - and making you such an outcast for not)

But axing a insanely popular show just ain't going to happen, but without mainstream tripe Harry Hill would have nothing to take the p**& out of. (Again speaking from a tiny minority who watches TV burp from that angle) - but for us it means it doesn't date and is still funny when watched back 4 years later.

*Alho I think there are more of us that society thinks

For once, Prime Minister, I actually agree with you. It's time soap operas were banned.

Yeah, I'd love to get rid of Eastenders, Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, Emmerdale. However, despite the fact that they're badly written and badly acted 9m+ idiots lap them up. Some things are just inexplicable.

The world is full of idiots - why do you think Iraq got invaded? Because one of those idiots just happened to be in charge of America.

I don't mind them too much, but I do mind the fact that they are on 4 days of the working week, as opposed to 3 before. It's such a drain on the cast and the writers, I just don't see the point of it, apart from the obvious - to fill in the glaring gaps in schedules. Also, I hated the slogan "Everyone's talking about it". It's that sort of thing that has led to the rise of gossippy nonsense like Heat magazine.
