Is it about time the BBC provided news in the morning?

I thought N24 was a 24hr rolling news channel! (July 2003)

I think perhaps that if News 24 looked and sounded a little better - I mean sharper and witty, rather than it's music - then it'd do well. As it is, it's a cross between a BBC News training exercise, focus group and graveyard.

So more Bill and Sian then? None of the couples really work together anymore. Bill and Sian work, Bill and Jules work (just) and Sophie and Jeremy used to work but apart from that there are no real couples. I still don't think Sophie and George work well together and as for Dermot and Natasha...

Chris and Maxine in my opinion are great together on the 1-4.

Well, for the first time ever, I saw a bit of 'Weekend 24' this morning and I thought Jon Sopel and Sian Williams were a really good pairing; serious on the hard news stuff and a bit of banter on the fluffy stories - On some couples' marriage, cue Jon Sopel: "Awwww, bless!"

I must say that Bill and Sian are the only half decent couple presenting on BBC News - although they are much better than just half decent, they are the Richard and Judy of Breakfast time. Why on earth are they only doing Breakfast on Fridays and weekends (when I'm sure there are very few viewers) when Dreadful Dermot and (the albeit lovely) Natasha are hashing it up every day?

Why can't the bosses see that throwing two people who are perceived as attractive together on a sofa every morning doesn't work if there's no chemistry?

Bill and Sian are wasted talents, and I'm sure other news channels (ITV included) would be only too happy to use them to their full potential.

Here is my take on everything:

First, I can't see how it would cost more to run The World Today from 5-9am on News 24, as the programme is already being output on BBC World. In this case, TWT-format would have to be extended by one hour, which I don't think would cause that many problems.

With regards to World's mid-programme ad breaks, BBC News 24 will not opt out, and an update on stories making headlines around the UK will be given before World opts in. This is what is done currently for both the news and WBR on the current TWT.

As for the weather/trailer/countdown breaks, there is no problem with the World studio running N24 continuity, as they already do that when the Overnight service originates from the World studio. The whole point of it coming from the World studio is to allow the N24 studio to be shut down for maintenance, which would also include the gallery. When this happens, World pres simply opts in and out when necessary.

And with regards to Sport pictures, they already give Sport headlines/pictures during the current TWT. The only thing that may have to omitted is Sport Today.

This is just what I think.

The very question is why you have to watch BBC Breakfast on N24,when you can do just the same by watching BBC ONE?I donot think it's all about money.Having in mind that WORLD and N24 are too close,it will be better for N24 to join WORLD in the mornings, just to allow for example those CEOs who live and work in the UK to "start the day with the facts at their fingertips"I really DO think watching WORLD in the mornings will be much valuable.
The diversity is what matters or do they work with the same maxim that "any low energy system is more stable"?
