What a nice tribute spotted.

Instant review:

It has potential but it's too glossy and the 'camera' changes too much

Potential yes, but from what I've seen, this is moving at a pace that's so fast it's hard to keep up with what's going on.

Pity the character animations are a bit, well, crap really, especially when it comes to speaking, since it all looks like the diction is behind the animation for some reason.

ITV are advertising a 'Super Saturday' schedule from next week. I can't believe Thunderbirds are Go wouldn't fit into that somewhere. Relegating it to the morning slot is a poor decision.

My thoughts exactly. If I'd read a synopsis of the episode, I'd have thought it sounded brilliant, but the action (and music) were just so relentless. They couldn't even finish the cold open in their haste to rush to the titles.

Aside from the dodgy animation, I couldn't fault the visuals at all. I think they've really captured that "five minutes into the future" thing, with the underwater lab and the solar collector, but they could have made so much more of the story if they hadn't tried to cram so much in. They could have given a quiet couple of minutes to a bit more exposition and investigation - the scene with Lady Penelope and Parker investigating the abandoned warehouse, for instance.

The voice acting and characterisation wasn't all that great, either. Although the behind the scenes thing with Reggie Yates showed several actors recording together, it felt like it was all recorded separately, metaphorically phoned in, and hacked to pieces in editing.

Actually, going on the overall quality of the opener, I'd say it's about right. I can't see this version becoming a cult hit with kids every ten years the way the original seems to.

In case anyone's wondering, Kayo (Tanusha Kyrano) is the same character as Tin-Tin from the original, but the name was changed apparently due to copyright issues with Hergé Tintin. She was the Hood's niece back then, too.

Apparently her VA Angel Coulby doesn't know that little piece of trivia, thinks she's a new character...

Just noticed that ITV Towers makes an appearance in the titles.

Love that the show has proper closing credits in their own style too, though I suspect that is more common on CITV than any of it's other channels.

CITV credits used to have to be in the house style (bearing in mind they were on the main ITV1 channel) for a good few years, and I think it was only MPAA, Art Attack and at least one other programme that were excepted from this. a lot of programming made between 2003 and 2006 has that era's credits style which is still there when the programmes are repeated.

I saw some of the Mr. Bean Animated Series repeats on CITV a few weeks back, and they were using the 2002 credits style. I haven't seen that version since its original run, as the repeats on channels like Boomerang and Nickelodeon always had a unique style. I wonder if ITV just used the copies that it still had from its original run on ITV1? The website address itv.com/mrbean leads to a 404 error page now.

I'm sure I've seen the "unique credits" before and that would have been on ITV or CITV. The Animated Mr Bean is another series which ITV should realise will appeal to an audience beyond CITV - these sort of shows are ideal early evening filler on Saturdays, and indeed a 15-minute filler show like Mr Bean could come in useful scheduling wise too.

Do we know what sort of ratings Jeremy Kyle is getting on weekend mornings - even if they're not bad surely the audience can't be that desirable to advertisers, especially as they have plenty of opportunity to target that audience and the like in the week.

Even with the limits on kids advertising and potentially lower audiences I'd have thought the fairly unique prospect now of kids shows getting a half decent slot on a main channel would be something advertisers would pay for, and it would just start ITV's weekend off on a much better foot with something like Thunderbirds are Go, then perhaps Mr Bean and Fort Boyard on Saturday mornings. It doesn't have to be under CITV branding - indeed it might be better not to be.
