...talking over the credits again!

For anyone interested, Points of View had a feature on the announcer talking over the Quartet film credits on BBC Two the other night. Instead of a generic apology, Phil Vowels himself was brought out to justify the decision. Why is it they never look how you think they look? Very Happy

The clip is on iPlayer for anyone interested http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b05z1hdb/points-of-view-2015-episode-9 (2min30secs onwards).

A lot of them look younger than you tend to imagine, I find. It reminds me of this item from The Culture Show...

Here's BBC-2 in PQ. Is the back of my head looking younger than you expected....? Wink

He didn't really justify it, beyond the stock BBC 'We're right, we know best, you're all wrong' response.

Well, I don't know what he was supposed to say, especially as the announcer is clearly only doing what they've been told to do. He can't refuse to make the announcement.

I think in many cases on Points of View, the viewers are totally wrong, and they should be told that.

Then he was an inappropriate person to justify the interruption, wasn't he ?

I'm sure you're right, I rarely watch it, it's largely a cosmetic exercise of mostly spin, to give the impression the Beeb are accountable and listen to criticism. NewsWatch is the same.

I think in many cases on Points of View, the viewers are totally wrong, and they should be told that.

But this isn't one of those cases, seems like a perfectly reasonable complaint. The so called justification of we wanted to make sure viewers knew about other stuff could have easily been done with a slide or trail of the back of the programme.
