I've also heard a bit more to that story that they offered the hosting role to another famous presenter behind Cilla's back who then contacted her to tell her.

Well didn't Love on a Saturday Night fill Blind Date's gap? Maybe they were eyeing up Davina McCall to replace her. She was certainly in demand around that time.

I seem to remember Lisa Riley's name being mentioned as taking over on Blind Date at the time. Not sure if that was ever the plan, though.

Not primetime ITV, surely. She'd only just joined Loose Women around that time, and it's only relatively recently that her career as a presenter of her own shows on Channel 5 has started to take off... Unless I'm missing something?
Jane McDonald would have been around at the time and fits into a similar mould.

Eamonn & Rylan again tomorrow. As someone else suggested, I doubt Ruth will return until the start of the summer series.
Normally, Eamonn & Ruth take two weeks' off prior to the summer series, so I'd imagine we'll see a different pairing next Friday.
