I'd find it odd if they didn't consult Phillip who should present along side him, considering he's been one of the main hosts since 2002. That said, it should just be that - consult, not dictate. With all these press stories, we will never know the full extent of it.
If this is all down to fear of reprisal from James Grant then I don't think ITV have anyone to blame but themselves for putting all their eggs in one basket... Unless JM just buys anyone they can get their hands on.
Is it too much to ask for a Schofield drunken sex scandal with Janet Street Porter to get his feet a bit further to the ground?
I think there is a general belief from the fallout with Fern that he got a little bit too big for his boots, and there is a perception that just as how things became awkward when Phil came to be billed equally with Fern, and subsequently seemingly became the more important part of the partnership, that Phil is becoming uncomfortable as Holly has become an equal rather than junior part of their partnership. There is probably a bit of frustration from Phil that his projects at ITV outside of This Morning and Dancing on Ice have dried up a bit too.
Of course though the media are likely making much more out of it than there actually is, which in turn might actually be adding fire to the smoke, and anyone who has worked together for 10 years is certainly going to fall out from time to time or question their working and personal relationships. Sadly there is often someone there ready to stir the pot when that happens, when in reality that pot just needs to simmer for a bit and everything will be fine.
All I'm seeing is entirely unproven, unsubstantiated tabloid reporting, with a lot of misguided extrapolation.

I wouldn't be shocked if the whole thing is to try and push people into tuning into her Heart Radio show in case she drops anything else "juicy" - vs actual radio presenting skill. IMO I think it's a horrid lazy way to promote your show by trashing others.
I imagine you have to have a bit of a commanding and strong will to get by in the industry regardless.
I'm sure some of this "rivalry" stuff is just the agency making up some guff to sell to the tabloids to raise profiles of their clients sometimes. But considering Phil's tweet, this wasn't an expected thing at all. But your also not always going to get along with co-workers or close friends. Can also be a case of settling somewhere a bit too long. There's certainly a time of change going on at ITV at the moment. Or at least feels that way.
