There has been prior stints where Holly has presented half the show alone whilst Phillip goes off to record an interview.

Ben Shephard was on GMB this morning so I imagine they would have poached him if possible but he must have had other commitments.


I wonder how last minute it was that they couldn't find cover.

I wonder because Phil is the more senior presenter, she has to act like that

I'm surprised Rylan isn't camped outside the studio just in case one of the hosts is taken ill. Didn't he step in for Holly and host with Phil a few months back?

Can remember it a couple of years ago, with Phil having to sit on cushion, in fact they're also hosting together next week.

I have to say I agree with this. Not so much because it startles viewers, but it undermines news programming.

Those types of reactions are part of social media/life these days. Everyone has to overreact to everything because they think they have to or its expected of them or people won't pay attention to them if they don't behave that way. Sadly.

I’m surprised they didn’t get somebody to stand in for Phillip, even if it was just somebody else who was in the building. There are an endless number of people who could have gotten there fairly quickly, so it seems like a conscious decision for Holly to host on her own.

From what I saw Holly was more than capable of hosting on her own, but the format doesn’t really lend itself to one presenter.

If she'd had the articles would be "Viewers FURIOUS as This Morning AXED due to Queens death".

Maybe the bosses at TM are trying to prove the show can survive without Phil!

Vanessa Feltz was in the building. She could have filled-in capably, subject to other commitments, contractual and otherwise.

She's on air on Radio London till 10. That's barely enough time to get from BH to TVC let alone prepare for the show.

Most of the segment presenters yesterday had co hosted the show before... Dr Ranj, Vanessa and Lisa Snowdon...
