I think it's possible to be petty and unnecessary yet still be more highbrow than Digital Spy.

Eagle eyed viewers may have seen a relic from the past today.

It didn't go unnoticed by Philip. Dr Chris admitted he keeps cards and notes from up to 30 years ago to reuse on medical items.

Doesn’t he present four days a week?

Looking at the recorded backdrop the other day, it made me wonder what they'll do in the long term now they're not returning to the South Bank. The skyline behind them is evolving in real life, particularly Arundel Great Court which is a shell in the present backdrop.

Perhaps the next set won't contain a view and they'll go for a more conventional set.

I think they'll gradually phase out the backdrop, using it/showing it less and less. There's no need for it in the long term

Potentially move towards an artificial scene, something similar to that used on BBC Breakfast (albeit on a bigger scale), or try to do a view out onto the front of TVC. When showing clips before Christmas of the last year it made me realise how amazing that live backdrop was, especially after the 2015 revamp to the windows and HD broadcast. Whilst the current set has been modelled to replicate it, they work well, but it’s just not quite the same.

Actually I was going to suggest something a bit more artificial and abstract that's based on the garden outside TVC. A bit like Daybreak Mk2 where there "window" scenes were a bit blurry.

I suspect there will be a revamp of the This Morning set and design but not in the immediate future. ITV spent a lot of money creating these sets for their move to Television Centre, along with GMB which is right next to it, so I have a feeling the look we see now will be with us for another 2 years or so at least.

That didn't stop Loose Women getting a new set earlier this month.

For the time being yes, but what is it going to look like as the skyline changes and the background still has cranes and empty shells where full developments now stand?

Studio 2 where Loose Women and Lorraine are made is a very different set up to Studio 3 where GMB and This Morning are based.

Studio 2 is used as a flexible studio, where sets are put up and taken down easily. However Studio 3 has a more permanent fixed studio set where GMB and This Morning sets are permanent standing structures in the studio, built back to back and can not be moved or taken down each day. They remain up all the time, and thus is harder to change their design.
