The BBC have gone from one extreme to the other with their coverage of today's Royal Wedding.

I wouldn't be surprised if this comes up on this weekend's Points of View.

With the previous Royal Wedding, they were criticised for too much coverage on multiple channels (BBC1 and BBC News) at the same time, and this time it was the complete opposite, with hardly any coverage.

Broadcasters can be petty if someone else has exclusive access to an event or person/interview and they don't so it's no surprise BBC has been like it has today.

It is well reported the BBC turned down coverage.
The BBC News website has been leading with the wedding most of the day - currently the top three stories in coverage and most read.
It's a difficult balancing act as too little coverage gives rise to allegations of being biased and so does too much coverage.

Apparently, Prince Andrew tried to strike a deal the BBC, but they turned it down because they thought it would be an expensive ratings flop.

They may have turned down coverage, but I thought it was an odd decision to still have extensive updates on the build up of the wedding on Victoria Derbyshire on BBC Two, which seems like the kind of programme that should be an alternative to BBC One or ITV covering a royal wedding like this. I imagine those interested in royal weddings would want to watch it in full and so turned to ITV anyway.

I thought Eamonn and Ruth did a great job, and far less pompous than certain other hosts would have managed.

As an aside though, I'm amazed This Morning only has one copy of that sofa.

I'm sure they have another copy since they had one for This Morning Live,

Something I have alway wondered is, when a presenter is sick or has an emergency, if they have a list of presenters who they contact, I remember Alison had to come at very short notice from Birmingham a few months back because no one was available.

Probably would have got the same viewing figures the usual programes got - maybe more as interest has been prehaps slightly higher than expected.

Didn't they also get an identical replacement when they moved to TVC?

It suited a This Morning broadcast but pushing it to brand it a Royal Wedding. Wouldn't know Eugenie if I passed her in the street.

I'm not sure if they got a new sofa, I think the sofa and table were the only remnants of Studio 8 that came with them.

They have another sofa for This Morning Live. I think that's the sofa they used. The legs look darker I thought

I think they gave the sofa away to a viewer.

It’s funny, I mentioned I prefer Eamonn and Ruth at work recently and that I really am not a fan of Holly and Phil and the response I got from my colleagues was utter dismay.

They all couldn’t believe it, but I just can’t stand them - I find them very annoying and either everything is a joke or when it’s serious, it’s some kind of educational “we need to spell this out to you”. I didn’t realise I was in such a minority! Perhaps I am biased as Mon-Thurs I’m normally at work anyway?
