BBC Studioworks are in a joyful mood today, as their original five year deal of sub-letting Studios TC2 and TC3 to ITV will have to be extended, as I doubt these daytime shows will ever be axed. They are the core of daytime ITV.

BBC Studioworks loves having them there, a proper resident production for them, generating money, and using these two historic studios every week, with TC1 now the main general entertainment studio, which has proved many people wrong about fast turnaround for shows. They have a very busy schedule this autumn, and all three studios are running very well.

It must be a great atmosphere there, back in Television Centre, a little bit like the good old days of the complex.

The listed part is the front of the building along Upper Ground - what is known as the Youngers Building - which used to be a Brewery - and until June was used as ITV offices and ITV Goods In

Nothing major, but they only played the short titles today with no 'coming up' captions, and it was the 20 second theme that played.

It was never a brewery, it was used as offices and a transportation hub for the Youngers brewery firm who loaded goods from Princes wharf (fronting directly onto the Thames) onto lorries (and probably horse and carts) for onward transportation around the local area. So a lot of beer went through the building, but it was never actually produced there!

The music sounded different as well.

The titles look a lot better without the overlays.

Music sounds snappier too. Although I hope one day they'll return to having titles that run about 20 minute long like in the good old days.

On a similar subject, I didn't realise that during their first year on the South Bank their (never ending) credits featured shots of the Thames just as they had of Albert Dock.

I'm guessing it's going to be quite some time since one of the hosts did the show single handed because the other was ill, as in that 1997 clip

I have a feeling the last person to host alone was Fern after the John Leslie furore. Phil came close a while back when Holly called in sick but they drafted in Rylan at the last minute.

Fern hosted it alone again more recently than that in early 2009 when Philip couldn't get in due to heavy snow.

And Holly and Philip have both hosted the show alone, but only for part of the show when they'd have to dash off for an interview with Andy Murray and Dame Judi Dench respectively. Even Allison hosted the show alone briefly earlier this year when the line cut off for Holly and Philip's dash up the Thames from HMS Belfast.
