The only real clumsy moment was the cringe-worthy interview with the police officer when Richard went full Partridge. But this is where Judy comes in to rescue him and their guest!

That and Richard telling Louise Redknapp that she'd "worn well".

I finally got round to watching Friday's episode and it's like Richard and Judy never went away but also that it wouldn't be a bad thing for the show to go back to its roots.

I thought they were great. Interesting that the programme logo was 'This Morning with Richard and Judy', I'm pretty sure it was never called that originally, despite it often being referred to as that

Well it was only right to add their names on since Holly and Phil and Eamonn and Ruth have their names on.

Yes, and as that's a thing they do now, there was no way they weren't ever going to not do it for Richard & Judy. I was half expecting them to go the whole hog and use the classic titles and I'm kinda glad they didn't and for the most part it was treated as an ordinary episode. A bit surprised they didn't at least get Chris Steele in. I'm not sure Jeremy Corbyn knew who they were or the signifcance of the broadcast.

Aren't Richard and Judy on record as hating the titles used for the final series which ended with them sitting on the sofa (and featured the team throughout) and it was one of the many straws that broke the camels back and caused them to leave (for a show named after them and where they featured in the titles!).

Did that set from 2000/2001 (which I quite liked, and certainly had a better logo than the 2001 revamp) have variations for the Friday presenters of the time (Fern and John I think).

I can see why they didn’t like those titles, not only are they a bit cheesy but they also feel a lot slower paced than the previous scrolling montage style that was used for so long.

I always thought those titles were just a bit weird, with R&J sitting down in a random blue set that bore no relation to the actual This Morning set.

I do remember when the final TM set with R&J debuted that Judy was somewhat uncomplimentary about it. At the end of the previous series they had the producer on, saying how they’d be getting a new set, and talking disparagingly about the ‘naff’ nautical memorabilia that had been part of TM since the beginning. Judy did little to hide her annoyance at this.

I assume they would have revamped at that point anyway with the move to widescreen, but it seems strange that Richard & Judy by that time seemingly had no involvement with what the new set/titles actually looked like? (Or perhaps not given the supposed animosity from ITV/Granada execs)

Must say rewatching those can't help but spot the similarities to the ITV idents that came along a couple of years later.

May I interrupt this thread just to say what an absolute joy it was to see yesterday’s interview with Miriam Margolyes. That lady is utterly hilarious. Conducting the interview in her perfect Glasgow accent was one of the funniest things I’ve seen on daytime tv in ages.

Poor Holly was very clearly on-edge at the beginning of the interview and wasn’t sure how to react to Miriam’s comedic responses.

Now, back to moaning and complaining about title cards, as you were........

Every interview with Miriam is a worthy watch whether it's This Morning or another show. 😂
