Currently watching TM on ITV Hub for the first time in a while. The thing that sticks out straight away is that R&J easily just slipped into the format again as if they'd be gone for a week rather than 18 years.

Their delivery is natural and doesn't rely on exaggerated giggles. At least for one day, TM has its mojo back.

Loved it and nice to see some effort made with archive clips and even little touches such as the R & J mugs in the kitchen.

Only 1 criticism... no Dr Chris Steele Crying or Very sad that would have just perfected what was a decent line up.

I hope Schofield isn't going to try and gush about it on Monday Rolling Eyes

I don’t mind Holly and Phil but the show could and will survive without them. If anything new hosts could freshen it up.

Totally agree. And the sooner the better.

Well, without Richard and Judy it wouldn't have lasted very long. They really were the fabric of the show.

Today just proves that the show hasn't been the same since in terms of its original charm.

It's exactly the same as someone singing a cover version of a song. It never quite hits the spot in the same way the original does because the song means something different to the original person who wrote and sang it.

I sort of feel that the presenters that come in do their own cover version. Some do an almost good job and some are just out of time with the tune.

Do think a daily comp where people can win a few thousand is better than a comp across all daytime shows for a month or so where a six figure sum is up for grabs.

To be fair, the show has had to evolve due to the changing demographics of daytime. Holly coming in did bring in a younger audience.

It’s probably for cost reasons,

If I recall, the R&J era of TM market led and was the heyday of ITV's daytime output. In 2019, Phil and Holly are beaten by a mix of antiques and homes programming on BBC1 where the original TM audience have ended up.

I've not howled at the TV so much in ages, the first caller did not deserve to be on air not knowing Albert Dock, Dr Chris etc Zipper

The BBC Daytime lineup skews very old whereas ITV is aiming for the younger demo

He knew Dr Chris but it was a very old pic. I didn't recognise him in it.

Also I don't think it's a good look to take a swipe at the mods in your signature for giving you a perfectly justified warning.

Watching on catch-up, it's so surreal to see this:
