Phil noted that it's his and Hollys tenth anniversary together tomorrow although a quick search points to Hollys first show with Phil on 14th September.

Isn't that what they do best???

Indeed. They literally just celebrated the head of wardrobe's anniversary on today's show.

I'm still a bit confused about his rise to fame...he was on The X Factor and then went straight to Celebrity Big Brother weeks later? Was he someone already known to TV execs who was "given" X Factor to introduce himself to audiences with a long-term plan of becoming a TV personality, or did he genuinely just audition independently and manage to charm his way very quickly into other projects?

I think Rylan was asked to audition for X factor by the producers as they were aware of him from other shows.

But since X Factor and Celeb BB in 2013....

Later that year he was co-hosting BBBOTS
Then he got a gig on this morning's hub
Then he hosted BBBOTS solo
Then this morning got rid of the hub and gave him a showbiz slot
Then he got a late night Channel 5 chat show
Then he got to co-host this morning
Then he got to co-host Xtra Factor
Then he hosted a daytime quiz show for ITV
Then he sort of left this morning and got a job with the BBC doing a few things for Eurovision and Radio 1
Then he covered for Zoe Ball on Radio 2
Then he got his own show on Radio 2
Now everyone wants him.

It has taken him 7 years to get here. His rise to fame is not really confusing - I think you mean he's not your cup of tea.

I think there's nobody as surprised as Rylan. I met him very briefly 2 years ago and he came across very well so I can see why they hire him.

We shouldn't forget just how keen TV people are, especially those at ITV, to make stars out of whatever reality stars they can get their hands on. I didn't see the bloke from TOWIE host on Good Morning Britain but I heard it was a car crash.

Rylan just happens to be a natural and warm television personality. I can understand why some people won't take to him because it can be argued he didn't "work his way up" but I think we could do a lot worse

I think there are some quarters that still have a problem with a young, confident openly gay man on television. Graham Norton had the same sort of treatment before he became a national treasure.

I'd argue he has worked his way up, he's may have not done kids TV but doing spin-off shows like BOTS and a few bits on This Morning is just as good a learning curve.

It's strange how nobody bats an eyelid when people from other walks of life get TV presenting gigs - sports people, politicians, musicians etc.

It's not brain surgery and is a skill which can demonstratively be learned/developed over a period of time by anybody who has a bit of personality.

They haven't got Holly's anniversary right at all because this date 10 years ago was a Saturday.

It’s not the first time they’ve got dates wrong on This Morning.

The next big anniversary will be Phil’s 20 years on This Morning in three years time assuming he’ll still be on it and also the show is still running at that point

I very much doubt they've got it wrong, so much as they've decided to celebrate it today as it's more convenient. They have the Downton special next week.
