Quick question, why does This Morning start at 10:28am everyday?

Because Judge Rinder was commissioned for an hour long slot but airing in a 65 minute. I believe that it’s padded out with a few extra trailers but this morning takes up a couple of minutes as it’s easier to extend a live programme than to request a re edit of a recorded one.

A quick search on YouTube shows Kyle had run time of 46 min usually, and Rinder isn't too different. Basically Kyle had more adverts as it was often top rated daytime show.

This Morning is good for filling time when it starts because they tend to spend time chatting at the start

It's a loose enough format that they can easily extend an item or two by a minute or so if there is a need to extend it.

On the occasion when The Time The Place came off air early due to disruptive audience members, This Morning started early and didn't seem to have any problem filling an extra few minutes - even on a single headed edition without Judy.

Because programmes rarely start dead on time. Think there is a 6-minute window of up to 2 minutes early or 4 minutes late.

Usually it is to do with ads - the shows in the 65 minute 9.25am slot are usually hour long shows but as they cross the hour they can have 14 minutes of ads within and around them rather than the 12 if they aired within a clock hour, so the 9.25 show effectively airs till 10.27.

The Lunchtime News also regularly airs at 1.28, though that is slightly less to do with ads and more about squeezing a full "half hour" bulletin (which runs to 22 minutes) and the regional news in a clock half hour rather than taking 5 minutes off the programmes around them.

Was that the edition hosted by Anna Soubry? (The Time, The Place).

Lovely to see some vintage Madeley, as Partridge as ever, with his 'fracas'.

He was Partridge before Steve Coogan was.

I don't know for a fact whom Steve Coogan had in mind when he created Alan Partridge. I've always assumed that he's likely an amalgam of several people, one of whom being Richard Madeley. I cannot believe that Madeley wasn't at least part of the inspiration.

I believe Wally Webb at BBC Norfolk claims to be the inspiration.
