Did no one catch the remake of the 90s break sting they aired the other day. Caught me by surprise.

What day was this?

It was on Tuesday's show.

They had an old style 'Welcome Back' bumper as well as an old style next menu. They even had old style graphics during the gadget segment.

They also had the old Sax theme and underscore music. And the logo on the plasma behind them.

For a remake it wasn't bad.

Which is why I'm surprised no one had mentioned anything on here till today Very Happy

I've uploaded the sequence:

Not a bad recreation, although I wish they could've Chromakey'd Holly and Phil on to the same era set Very Happy

It would be nice if there could use the 1989-93 Bed/Underscore. Confused

Wouldn't they have the original graphics stored away somewhere? Or would they need to be converted to use on air today?

I feel bad for criticising it because it was a nice touch, but if you're going to do something do it properly. It wasn't that hard to recreate. They had matching Astons through the item too but they look like they were put together in Powerpoint 97.

I agree, it was a nice touch. I do like it when shows dig out old pres. I couldn't help but think of the gallery after watching it a few times though.

Doubt it. There might be a ''kit of parts" on an old DigiBeta somewhere, but I imagine with the short turnarounds in the show running order (and the spontaneity of creating this), someone in Daytime Graphics just knocked up a 'best efforts' mock by eye. It's a nice touch all things considered.

Unless they were already recreated for the anniversary a few years ago?

The originals would not really be usable now being 4:3. Can't imagine they would look too great on HD either.

They've started using break stings which use an aerial shot of the Thames/South Bank, presumably shot by a drone.

They've been used for a few months. I remember them saying Sarah Greene helped film/ had relations to the person who filmed them from a helicopter.
