Not a bad concept but so poorly executed. Made in Cardiff did a better job of shooting behind the scenes stuff for their titles:

Just watched the titles back and they don't make that much sense with the presenters edited out. Hopefully somebody sees some sense and drops them. There are some dreadfully long sections focusing on dull things like studio lights and a revolving door.

Would have been far better to just use a sting with that final shot of the studio exterior.

Considering they're moving to TVC next year, there's no point in going overboard for the 7 week summer run.

35 editions, plus possible usage when Phil and Holly are off at other times. Many shows have elaborate titles for much less than that

The issue is that they have totally no narrative at all. The main titles follow Phil and Holly on their journey to a coffee shop then the studio. This is just a compilation of clips which makes it feel very cheap. I think the time-lapse shots of the studio are very cheap and would be better placed on YouTube rather than a TV show.

The shots like Phil and Holly edited out like the taxi have no motion anymore making them seem lifeless and lacking energy. It just needs a few people wandering around in the background. I think some generic titles were needed but I'm sure they could have done a better job of it than this. I really have to question why they didn't film a generic sequence on the shoot of the titles back in 2015

Yes, these could just have been done much better, even if some of the random clips were replaced with stock footage of Eamonn and Ruth from the show. Indeed I suspect if we go back far enough in this thread I'm sure somebody attempted a version of the titles without the references to Phil and Holly which were better executed.

It does also seem they might intend to use these moving forward as otherwise I'd have thought they'd have made them more summer focused.

They could have used behind the scenes shots which included clips of Ruth and Eamonn's best bits or something. Never a good idea to shoot your own stuff and cut it with titles that have a higher budget.

Well I'd disagree with that, I think they're terrible titles. The rest of 'The Crunch' looks fab graphically though.

They're not very inspiring shots but the quality of them is better than what TM is using.

But at least they have got rid of the horrid toe curling Phil and Holy titles. It was poor that the superior presenters Eamonn and Ruth never had titles of their own or at least generic titles.

Did they? It's a shame they didn't use those better shots, that looks naff. And who chose that irritating tune for the titles?

It took two years to get that added!
