Given the show's heritage of being presented by married couples, I'm surprised Mrs Schofield doesn't cover for Holly on occasion, with her past as a CBBC presenter. (Can't remember if she was any good, mind you)

Well, it was 25 years ago and she hasn't done anything since, so she might be a bit out of practice.

The show has just gone off air, half a Boots ad played twice, then an ITV logo, then a This Morning slide, where you hear Pip say in the background "someone has pressed a button by mistake and we've gone to a break".

It wasn't half a Boots ad, it was the Boots sponsorship sting from the beginning of a break, followed by some black and then the one from the end of the break.

They then had an itv logo for a bit before the This Morning logo and Philip talking before the proper break.

They then went to the scheduled break and back to This Morning without a break sting or sponsor.

Finger trouble I assume.

Incidently they started the programme with a clip of Charlotte Church singing (because Wales are playing football tonight and theyre having a Welsh theme) but from a really ropey, blocky, presumably YouTube clip. Looked awful, I'm sure they could have done better than that

Jesus, This Morning's declined over the last few years (particularly since Martin Frizzle took over). The personalities really hold the show together, the content is simply embarrassing-- constant phone-ins (an easy and lazy way to fill time), even a discussion about a bananas predicting the Euro results.

Whenever I stumble upon it, is does seem very much more like ITV Be than the This Morning I'm familiar with.

It feels so odd- they have two great spontaneous talkers (Holly & Phil), but the content is anything other than spontaneous. On a given day I can predict exactly what the show will feature: a call in about mental health, Rylan with showbiz, some horribly produced/edited/presented cash giveaways, a dragged out cooking segment, some regurgitated soap 'gossip' and a paid interview with a woman who's plastic surgery embarrasses her children... EVERYDAY!

They did the Chilcot Report today. Personally TM should dump current affairs as it jars with the rest of the female skewed women's weekly output.

Yet on the other hand, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford can easily switch from news to the banality, while Schofe and especially Holly don't handle it as well.

The producers seem to be having an identity crisis with the entire show IMO.
As for the news content, the debates (especially with Katie Hopkins) were compelling television, albeit not the most highbrow-- but they've ditched it in favour of a bizarre paper review.

The paper review was ditched a couple of years ago

I think they should promote Ruth & Eamonn full time, and move Holly & Phil to a One Show-style evening slot.

I thought one of the reasons they went with Holly was to appeal to a younger audience though?
