I agree. He is great on Bit On The Side and doing the showbiz segment on This Morning. As for ever being tipped as a main presenter, I really can't see it myself and I'd be surprised if they went down that route. However, if they got it so wrong with Coleen and Twiggy, who knows what could happen in the future.
Baffled how Rylan is even being considered by you lot.
I think he's a nice person and I think he suits Big Brother but on This Morning he just doesn't work.
He can't speak... "we'll come back a bit cleanerer", "we was just talkin about it" and he lacks the knowledge and experience of a lot of stories covered.

I'm sure there's a number of young male presenters who'd be far more qualified and suited to This Morning. Just look at BBC Radio, Greg James and Scott Mills are both exceptionally good at working live. Greg James and Fearne Cotton have recently worked on the One Show, alongside a number of others and been brilliant. People on here only look at what's directly infront, as do a lot of producers. It's about time the people we see on TV becomes more varied. I'm fed up of the same 10 or so faces appearing on prime time TV across all major channels.

Is it not the case that they always tend to aim for a younger audience during the holidays (such as having Marvin & Rochelle during the Summer)?
Yet they have Eamonn and Ruth for the rest of the week?
Nobody would be suggesting Rylan if Rylan hadn't been Eamonn's main cover for the last few weeks.

But in terms of the guest presenters, they haven't been typical This Morning fayre.

But that's the biggest issue for me. Rylan is a nice person but a lot of the time he seems disingenuous. Sometimes that's because he doesn't know what people are talking about and others it's like an over-the-top joke which just doesn't make him very likeable. It works on BOTS as it's part of the showbusiness, but it doesn't sit well with me on TM.
Sincerity is key, especially with those interviews involving the general public. You can have decades of journalistic appearance but on a show like This Morning if it doesn't look like you care or are interested then the interview will fail.

I personally think that Rylan is very good when he presents. I disagree about him being disingenuous - if anything I think he's far more sincere than both Phil and Holly.
Rylan's problem that he needs to overcome is people's perception of him. I think a lot of the criticism of him is from people who actually haven't watched him. He's a very slick and capable presenter, and even if his future isn't on This Morning, it will be in something very similar.

Dermot is a good call and it's a role that would suit him well. Emma Willis too.
I think Rylan is great as a cover presenter and as showbiz correspondent but I doubt ITV would consider him to replace Phil, I think Ben Shephard or Dermot O'Leary would be more likely. As for Holly, I think Emma Willis or Angela Scanlon would be good.

If anyone wanted to watch an episode from 2001 featuring Fern Britton when deputising from Richard & Judy then a full episode is available on Youtube which is from the morning after the 2001 General Election.
The titles have indeed been amended to show Fern Britton and John Leslie at the end (although Nick Knowles hosts this edition). There is also a rather nasty edit in the middle of now-disgraced Fred Talbot with an umbrella who also features in the episode as doing the weather still from the Albert Dock which I didn't realise they brought that back whilst they were in London.
