Seems to be new screens on the set today. Preferred the old ones imo.

Some news about one of our own that has all of us at This Morning in a state of shock. After almost thirty years of providing comfort to millions of This Morning viewers, agony aunt Denise Robertson is in need of a lot of love herself today. Denise has told us she has pancreatic cancer.

Denise said last night : 'I'm sorry I've not been around for a couple of weeks but a persistent health issue has turned into something quite a lot bigger. I've been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It has come as a surprise to me and my family but we know many others have suffered and dealt with this condition and I don't plan to give up without a fight.

My doctor is referring me for chemotherapy and hopefully that will start soon. I'd like to thank all the lovely viewers of This Morning who have been concerned about my health and I hope I'll be back on the sofa soon.'

Always horrible news to hear. The support from the This Morning viewers will be much welcomed I'm sure for Denise.

The screens are awful, they look like the old ones used on the old set. I think the normal ones have been taken for something else, maybe Ant & Dec?

When you say screens, where are the others? Isn't it just the one behind the sofa? If so it could be that it's broken and the one used today is just temporary.

Really sad news about Denise Robertson. I really hope she makes a full recovery. We have lost too many people recently.

Those green straps which are on screen during each item are annoying. There's no need for them to be on screen for the entire item.

Everyone says that about the straps but personally I like them!

I very rarely watch live but usually record and flick through later in the evening. The straps are really useful to know when to stop and watch what I want.

Not just that, but for someone who doesn't sit down to 'watch' it and just has it on in the background during the morning, the straps would be really useful to see what they're showing at a glance (not always a possible from the images on screen!)

Something fascinated me today on the show, The brightness of the windows can actually be changed depending on the weather.

Holly and Phil were talking about how the weather kept changing and that the person behind the scenes would have to changing the colour of the windows depending on if it is raining or not.

Technically it's not actually varying the brightness of the windows, it is varying the perceived brightness of them on-camera.

In the studio they look exactly the same all the time, it's only the on-camera view that changes.

There is a polarising filter on the windows, and another on the camera that can be rotated, to alter the amount of light through the window that reaches the camera. Pebble Mil at One used something similar in the 80s, as did the BBC Beijing Olympics studio, and BBC Persian use it too. (Daybreak used different tech, which actually dimmed the windows in reality)
