Maybe this was the case last week - in which case I'm sorry, but the Friday titles this week still featured Phil & Holly, but the logo at the start and end was just generic (i.e. without the 'with Phil & Holly' addition).
So they managed to get rid of 'with Phillip & Holly' but not actually get rid of Phillip & Holly from the titles.
I've had a little play around. Using the short theme they could keep the editable sections, but cut out Phillip & Holly.
Editing them out won't work, because you basically have no titles left.
To me it's an obvious attempt to say "This is Holly and Phil's show, they are the brand, and anyone else is just a stand in". Otherwise they wouldn't make the presenters so integral to the titles.

Which is silly - the programme would survive without Holly and Phil.

Exactly! I don't understand why this is so hard to grasp. They didn't *forget* to make a version of the titles without them.
I suppose the ironic thing here is that even though Phil and Holly are seen, and being pushed as the main presenters of the show, they have school holidays off. The time when most people (I assume) who work 9-5 also have time off, therefore will see Eamonn and Ruth presenting the show. You could argue that a lot of people will probably see Eamonn and Ruth presenting more than Phil and Holly.
That made sense in my head, hope it came across on here!

I agree, most of the time when I can watch the programme live is with Eamonn and Ruth.
I don't understand why they're pushing the 'Phillip & Holly' brand so much. It's not as if it's the sort of programme where the personalities are tightly associated with the format - I'm thinking Morecambe & Wise, Michael Barrymore, Ant & Dec through to Parkinson & Graham Norton.
So either they're disillusioned over the two of them being the reason that people watch or they're trying to reposition them because of the constant comments from people preferring Eamonn & Ruth.

If I'm taking one of my precious 20-ish days off a year I am not watching This Morning: a personal choice but I think this is pretty widely applicable. I'd suggest that viewing figures are higher in school term time - working parents (and those who aren't working during the day) are at home in peace. If the kids are at home, CBBC is probably on.

Phil & Holly are more advertiser-friendly. I'd imagine they pull in a better demographic, and they're certainly more bankable for endorsements and sponsorship.
