When you listen to the mp3 of the new theme posted a few pages back, you really get that they've gone back to the 90's theme a lot in terms of the underscore. It sounds identical in places and it's such an uplifting rhythm.

It's the layers for me that make it sound wonderful.
They may have a monopoly on ITV Daytime's live programmes, but Sitting Duck Music have done a wonderful job on all of them.

What helps makes the This Morning theme of the 90s so iconic is the length of it, and it was such a shame when they cut it down. Glad to see it almost restored to full length now.

Did Sitting Duckc do the 2009 GMTV theme? That is also beautifully layered (the full version of the theme anyway) and has a few similar effects to the new TM theme.

And perhaps split the thread so it starts from the most recent relaunch.

Yes. Seconded. They're in the same studio, not a new one. It just has a new set in it.

I understand what people are saying, however, I think the titles are perfectly fine as they are. There is no need to switch to an Eamonn and Ruth version, we don't see a Kate Garraway version on Lorraine, when she is used, which used to be quite frequently i.e. every Friday.

I love the new set, and have to say they really went 'all out' - a great refresh, a similar GMB set would be welcome!

They didn't upgrade the studio to HD over the small break, they simply added wires in so they could use the new HD cameras in Studio 8, via the Studio 7 gallery. This is, presumably, temporary until the Studio 8 gallery is upgraded, as it can take up to a couple of months.

I just hope they sort out the break stings. I don't like not being able to see the logo clearly, as the majority of the time, it blends into the background. They possibly need to add a white light effect behind the logo so it is visible or blur the studio/outdoor shot.

But, it's more the fact that Eamonn and Ruth have had titles for the past what? 7 years?

The issue with Lorraine is that her name is the programme. Bar getting another Lorraine (Pascale?) to cover her, the host is never going to match the name so they can leave the titles easily. TBF though Sept 2012 - Apr 2014 the titles were just a graphic for Lorraine.

The problem with the This Morning titles is that they are so centred around the two of them as whole relaunch and marketing campaign seems to have been for some reason and as a result it feels like Eamonn & Ruth who host the majority of Friday editions and the all school holidays have been sidelined and not even thought about. They host around 95 editions compared to roughly 155 for Phillip & Holly each year.

It would be nice to see either generic titles or short titles featuring the two of them.

As for the set the more I watch it the more you see everything. Where as the previous sets had their little areas it meant that each part felt totally separate. I'm sure that they'll experiment more over the coming months before filling it full of trees in December.

So going from that above clip being from 2000, I presume that these titles:

...were very short lived? I'm guessing that the show went widescreen sometime in 2000/2001 (September 2000 maybe? As that's usually when ITV daytime shows have a refresh or rebrand) and so those new titles were made, but were only used for a brief period as Richard and Judy left in July 2001. Again, I presume that these titles continued to be used until September 2001 when Twiggy and Coleen Nolan began their ill-fated tenure as hosts, using titles based on the graphic seen in this publicity shot:

I presume that the first era of the 'squares' logo was then introduced in September 2002 when Schofield began hosting? There seems to be very little video of these eras online.
