What would you rather see, ITV doing something different (even if you don't like it), or ITV going up against 'Homes Under the Hammer' and 'Bargain Hunt' with their own imaginatively titled knock-offs, 'Houses up for Auction' and 'Deal Finders'
I get your point. I just didn't realise the content was really stuff like Jeff Brazier giving fake tans, Rylan commenting on the X-Factor, and Gok Wan recommending blouses from Tesco.

Brazier went from fake tanning in Aberdeen on Tuesday to being a 'Life Coach' expert on the sofa today.

To be fair, that's as close to life coaching as you'll get in Aberdeen !!
I don't really get the criticism of the format, they're catering to an audience which is clearly there during the day. I know we don't do ratings in demographics but I imagine that the average age of a This Morning viewer is lower than that of Bargain Hunt - and if ITV offered a clone of that instead (because, face it, they're not going to put any money into doing something special in the mornings) their ratings would fall even further.
TBH GMB and This Morning aren't that dissimilar to American and Australian morning programmes. I remember when I was in Sydney for a few weeks and watched Sunrise followed by The Morning Show while recovering from jet lag and aside from the change of presenters, it was felt like one five hour programme. At least Jeremy Kyle does provide a break between GMB and This Morning.
Very similar to Live with Kelly and Michael here in the US.

The thing with This Morning is people will sit through the things they're not interested in to watch the bits they are interested in.
Is it Eamonn and Ruth as normal tomorrow or do they get a week off following their summer stint, with ITV taking advantage of the four-day week and getting Holly and Phil in on the Friday anyway. The end today was a bit rushed and there was no refeence to who was hosting tomorrow, just what was on the show.

The website says Eamonn and Ruth are presenting. Will be interesting if we get alternative titles or if they stick to the Holly and Phil version.
I find the Eamonn and Ruth presentation tolerable, especially during topical segments. There's something about the other two that doesn't work for me, although I like Schofe on his own away from TM.
It was interesting to see those test titles. The original idea made the contents part of them quick and snappy, though you've got to give the audience the chance to see them I suppose.
As for the performance area, like I said there is a fridge/freezer and dresser on the opposite side to the kitchen of the green room door suggesting that there wouldn't be room now with that and the sofa and table being more central.
It hasn't been an issue this week, but usually this morning will use both fashion and performance areas when having segments. It will be interesting to see where such items about homes & decor, gadgets, experiment, etc. will be placed - especially if there is a fashion/makeover on the same programme.
Even I watched on Thursday morning thinking that the titles straight into the top story jarred a little. It may have made sense for Phillip & Holly to say something along the lines of "Good morning! It's a very varied show this morning. Coming up..." Straight into the menu, with a "But first the big story of the morning..." in a more sombre tone. The removal of the menu recap may be the problem as it gave the presenters a chance to easily move areas and change tone.
So today they used the same titles but, as expected, removed the 'Phillip & Holly' bit. That's it. In fact, the 'Phillip & Holly' bit was still on the taxi insert at the beginning, so that's how much effort has gone into that!
