Funnily enough I was walking past the south bank last night and could see into the This Morning studio for once - it's usually blacked from the outside for me normally. Only when I got home I realised a possible reason why.
I'm guessing that the darkened windows are used for sunny days as that sugar glass made the outside look wonderful in comparison to the darkened kitchen window.
The windows are darker because they are mirrored when looking at outside so that the people walking past outside on the South Bank so they are not distracted and attracted to stare in through the window during broadcast.
They'd have to be very tall people as the studio is at first floor level and not ground floor level.

I don't think that is the reason - it is more likely to be that ND or Rosco perforated filters are being used on the windows to cut down the daylight coming in through the studio windows (to avoid having to use excessive light levels to match unfiltered daylight in the studio). As a result from the outside the studio lights coming out will appear darker, and because the relative light level outside is higher, the windows will appear mirrored.
If you look at any NDed windows you see the same effect.
Are there proposals to build/extend itv studios on the land of the building that the current this morning studio is in?
I wonder if 'shooting new opening titles' means that it'll consist of more than a photo of them.
This look has worked well for them especially in repositioning the show back in 2009. I still like the 2009 (and again current) theme tune. The logo is very well associated with the programme and works well with the different length words - something the 2003 - 04 didn't seem to do well imo. I'm not a big fan of the current set. I'd like to see a move away from the fake brick look.

I seen Phil posted this earlier on his Instagram. Looks like they're in a cafe for the filming of the new titles.
