They just played a blatant rip off of You Say We Pay, and gave the callers the chance to choose anything from the studio to keep ("apart from the tables because we're taking them with us"). The callers chose a plastic unicorn and a giant rubber duck. Rather than the sofa or plasma TV, much to everyone's bemusement.

Nice little montage followed by applause and a short speech emphasising that they'd be back, and that they were taking the view with them. Then as the show ended they both turned around and admired the (real) view for one last time.

They make it sound like they're only going to be gone a few months!.

'the builders in' suggests a decorating job, maybe new windows or some minor structural work! Not the complete demolition and rebuild planned - what's anticipated to be four years worth of work!

I'm pleased that they've given some note to the studio move, albeit briefly... although it seemed to turn more into a homage to Phil and Holly at one point. (I did worry that Phil was going to ignore Fern on the cushion but at least he very quickly mentioned her!) The whole thing was very cleverly phrased to make the average viewer assume it is only a very short term thing and that they're coming back exact same studio, which we know isn't happening, quite soon. Looking likely that they're trying to keep it a bit low-key as they probably want to keep the continuity for the average viewer as much as they can. As they're clearing things out, I wonder if they've uncovered Richard Madeley's Ali G suit? Very Happy

Still a couple of weeks to go yet so there might be more of a reflection from Ruth and Eamonn when they do move on the last day. Would be ironic if there are delays to the plan to move back in seeing that they've been joking about it today.

This gives the impression Holly hadn't hosted prior to getting the job full time, but she filled in for Fern before this.

In terms of the background, Phillip essentially confirmed on This Morning a few weeks ago that it would stay the same. He mentioned that they’ve been recording the view for the past 18 months.

I’m assuming they’ve done the same for GMB and ITV London News. Is the ITV London News camera situated on TLS or Studio8?

The camera is at the rear of the main studio podium block on the second floor. In simple terms TLS rather that Studio 8, but I know what you mean.

Why do the clips credit Lorraine as well as ITV Studios?

I think the first one was by mistake. When played over the abseiling, this was part of the 24 hour text santa marathon that Phil did. As this used a lot of the Lorraine set, it could have been produced by them(?)

I had exactly the same thought when watching it, but it doesn't look like she had ever acted as a relief presenter for Fern, having had a quick look on youtube

I don't recall her standing in for Fern at all.
