The show this week hasn't used "with Phillip and Holly" in the opening titles for some reason. Still says that into/out of breaks though.

I thought Rylan was meant to be taking a break from This Morning!

He did say he would be making fleeting appearances now and again. Does make a change considering he was on practically every day even on Fridays.

I believe it's the first time Emma has co-hosted TM for about four or five years (not counting her hosting the Hub).

Shame Sarah Greene wasn't chosen as her appearances co-hosting with Philip and Rylan last year went down well.

Worth noting that next weekend is the finale of The Voice - will be interesting if this plays more of a part in next weeks shows if Emma is hosting. It feels like a natural thing with it being on ITV now and not doing spectacularly well in viewing figures. Easy (free) publicity.
although viewers may not too be impressed idk.

Given the fact that Ant and Dec, Graham Norton, The Last Leg etc have all mentioned the studios closing down, it is so obvious they are moving out, so I guess they will mention it on the first day and that is it. If This Morning and GMB want to use the outdoor look of Television Centre as they did often on the Southbank, then it will become even more noticeable where they are at, they can't hide any pretence.

But there's a major difference between those shows and This Morning. Those shows have indeed mentioned it but the aspect of the South Bank itself plays no element whatsoever in the show really. They could be held in any studio and no one would be none the wiser - yes, Ant and Dec have used the building from time to time and on the titles, but the majority of the show is from Studio 1. This Morning however has the view of South Bank as a major element of the programme... it's always there on show because it's part of the set and the windows have always been a big part of the show. That's why I'm unsure whether they'll mention it. If they do opt for outdoor segments, then, yes indeed it might shatter the illusion. However, most non-TV enthusiasts will just think that they're in a yard/garden somewhere and not at TVC. Indeed, if they do spot that they're using somewhere at TVC, many viewers that don't have any awareness of London might just think that TVC must be right next to the South Bank! We sometimes forget how unknowledgeable the average viewer is. Laughing

Another thing to consider is that it's only been in recent years that they've used the South Bank a lot more - when This Morning moved there originally, they sometimes went outside but not as much as they tend to now and many segments were indoors. It might simply be a case of going back to basics more - they've got a bigger space to play with so they might actually find it easier to create small temporary sets for certain segments or record segments on location somewhere.

I can see there being a mention of moving studios at the end of the final show, but I do wonder whether they'll mention moving away from South Bank so the average viewer just thinks they're in another one with a view of the Thames. These are all just thoughts though and a huge assumption that the fake windows will display a view of the Thames. It could be a recorded shot of Westfield or Hammersmith Park with some ducks on the pond yet. Very Happy

Lots of people talking about the Thames being an iconic part of 'This Morning'...

I guess lots of people don't remember it used to come from Liverpool with a view of the Albert Dock?

The windows are a pretty iconic part of the 'This Morning' look, but I'm not sure the specific view through them is. I expect them to recreate a Thames view with LCD monitors when they move to TV Centre though - presumably trying to make as few changes as possible?

I would assume very heavily that they'll keep the same view on the LCD monitors as the preview pictures have shown the fake windows set up exactly like the existing set. Some of us will indeed remember the Albert Dock view but I suppose many viewers link the programme so closely with South Bank as it has spent more time there. I do think they could've dispensed with view altogether during these interim years and tried something a bit different in the space at TVC but I suppose they're limited by the fact that it's what they'll be getting back again in the future with a similar set up - albeit at a different angle. And I also suppose the old saying 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' comes to mind too!

In terms of the background, Phillip essentially confirmed on This Morning a few weeks ago that it would stay the same. He mentioned that they’ve been recording the view for the past 18 months.

I'd have thought that they would have created a different look for the new set, or at least use a different view even if it was more of a generic London landscape or shots of the park (if it's still there) behind TVC.

I can't imagine This Morning not saying something, Studio 8 has been their home for nearly 22 years out of the 30 that the programme has been on air. I imagine that Phil will say something on tomorrow's show and at the top of the Monday 16th April show, especially being back at television centre. I'm unsure if Eamonn & Ruth (if it is them presenting will mention it on the last Friday at the studio.)

If permitted the use of the front of TVC would work in a similar way for features, especially around the public spaces.

I’m assuming they’ve done the same for GMB and ITV London News. Is the ITV London News camera situated on TLS or Studio8?

Don't GMB & ITV News London already use recorded backgrounds?

If this morning have recorded backgrounds to the standard of the display at the This Morning Live event last year I'm sure that we won't notice that much difference, bar the fact that the background won't move when the cameras do.

ITV London uses a live backdrop, but GMB has a pre recorded one. GMB in fact has 3 recorded one's. A dark one, a cloudy one and a summer one
