It is surprising though Granada was never split into Liverpool/Manchester sub regions.

Isn't this purely down to the fact that (barring relays and such) most of the region is covered by the one transmitter at Winter Hill?

Really, it'd only be nowadays on DSAT or Cable that it might be possible - but in these days of costcutting and joining regions together, just ain't gonna happen Sad

Yes, that's the main reason. The IBA seriously considered the idea of Winter Hill carrying two ITV beams as early as 1981, to allow a Liverpool to have its own opt out, but with the proximity to North Wales, and also the Irish Republic to consider, no suitable frequency could be found.

They could have used the relay at Storeton, but a lot of the Liverpool still use Winter Hill, so that would have required viewer aerial changes. Mind you, much the same applies in Sheffield, and the Crosspool relay. Much of the city uses Emley and Belmont, but that didn't stop YTV providing a sub-opt on that relay in 1990.

Was surprised to see them use the Holly/Phil pic last week when Ruth was presenting as I'm sure there is a version with the Holly/Phil and Eamonn/Ruth pics. How often is Jenni presenting anyway - she seemed to step in when Holly went into labour but then everytime I've seen it it has been Ruth.

Also a bit of a nerve of Mr Schofield to be ranting about C4 showing people taking drugs. Most things they've done in late night documentaries seem to end up live at lunchtime on This Morning sooner or later.

Jenni is doing 3 weeks, unsure who it is after then, unless they just use Ruth for a further 3 weeks and then Jenni finishing the series before Ruth & Eamonn take over for the summer (assuming it isn't being taken off air this summer, which it could probably benefit from).

Changing the picture is just pointless for such a short time and its not surprising they kept the Phil & Holly picture on, although they could do with a Phil & Ruth picture.

There might be new titles in September anyway, isn't This Morning supposed to be going HD?

I'm surprised they didn't make a version which didn't have a presenter combo at the start, surely there would be some oddities along the way...
