If you look on Google Maps satellite view at certain levels the weather map is visible.

Off the top of my head, I would think the North West regions and Yorkshire regions probably have the highest number of 'big cities' (in the top 10 English cities by population) within their patches (of the English regions)?

Sounds about right. And Central isn't far behind: Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Stoke, Nottingham and Leicester

Another example of seriously outdated photos on both Google Maps and Google Earth.

There's a brief snippet of the Dock in the midst of the attached compilation, which may lend some perspective.

where I live is about 5-6 years out of date, where as street view is two years old so you seen a street on the map go to street view and it's an urban park Confused

anyway the 'view' from the ex this morning studio was used in the final opening titles of Brookside

It really surprises me there isn't more of a TV presence in Liverpool, apart from Hollyoaks of course!

I thought Hollyoaks was based in Chester?

It really surprises me there isn't more of a TV presence in Liverpool, apart from Hollyoaks of course! It has plenty to offer. As you say, Liverpool is really on the way up, which I'm really proud to see, rivalling Manchester in several respects.

Probably in a few years when the complaints come in about the BBC being too Salford based they might decide to ship a few things down the M62.

It is surprising though Granada was never split into Liverpool/Manchester sub regions.
